Sorry, that's not much help. I'll be replacing mine as soon as it warms up a bit. It's screaming like a burning witch!

Does it match the old unit exactly when you measure it? Maybe just a defective unit ?

Does it push in and twist, locking it with those black plastic tabs? Perhaps it needs to be oriented differently. See if the tabs will engage in a different position.

Yeah, look for one tab that's different from the others, then find a hole that matches.

Make sure the upper rim of the blower cage is “exactly” the same diameter as the original one. It’s a very tight fit. Also make sure nothing had dropped down into the hole where the blower cage fits, like a rubber gasket or a piece of insulation, etc. Then rotate the housing to get the correct orientation. IIRC it only goes in one way. I fought mine for half a day.

I've had mine out a few times, yes it's tricky. Got to make sure it's oriented correctly and push into place and rotate and make sure that the loose wires don't get trapped in the opening (tuck them out of the way).

One thing that helped me a lot was to have a bright light to see in there, but what really helped was to loosen all the screws on the right side of the dashboard / glove box / everything else because it was such a tight fit. All the plastic pieces were just too tightly jammed together. Once I did that it twisted in place easily. Just be sure you are starting it in the correct orientation before trying to twist it on place. If not correct, it'll never work.

You'll get it!

I had a hard time screwing mine in. I believe I ended up removing the plastic panel by the glovebox on the right side of the dash (between the passenger door and the dash). I remove a few other screws. I had to push the dash/plastic in order to get the blower to fit. I think my dash wasn't exactly lined up perfectly, so in order to get the tabs in, I had to push everything around to get it to line up.

There was a small plastic tab on mine that was different from the OEM unit, it prevented the final "twist" because it hit another plastic piece.

I compared it to the OEM one side-by-side, took a file and trimmed down the small plastic hook, after that it went right in

If you look at the photo you posted on post #1 it looks like the tab facing you is not as wide as the ones on either side. If so, that narrow tab has to go in the matching narrow slot in the box.

I'm not sure where the confusion is coming from. The wide tabs won't fit in a narrow hole.

Hi, was away and unable to respond.

I did not mention to remove anything, simply loosen the screws mentioned. It seems that mine was a very tight fit against other parts and simply needed a little more room. I gained a little more room for the assembly to fit by loosening the screws in surrounding plastic pieces (this allowed other parts to move slightly, out of the way). To be totally honest, I don't remember removing the glove box, but it was a while ago and sometimes memories fade, lol. I do remember pulling on the lower lip of the dash assembly to try to move it away from the heater system. I then easily (luckily?) fitted the assembly into place. You must install it in the correct orientation or it will never fit.

When you have the fan assembly installed, rotated, and locked into place, re tighten all the screws that were loosened. Definitely a difficult fit!
