Intake Manifold issue 2010 m272

Recently replaced intake manifold on my glk, it was gunked up and had a arm break. After install I started it and all seemed fine, but still got a 0521 code (charge movement flap on cylinder bank 1 had a malfunction) I cleared it twice and had it come back multiple times. I checked the plastic piece for movement and it moves as it should. I've seen elsewhere that this code can be caused by the oil sensor, but all I find is the oil switch.

I saw another post mention the pcv and centrifuge, and another saying cam magnets / sensor. Could either of these be a cause? To add I do have some pretty rough oil leaks (seems prior owner was a bum) but nothing that seems hard to fix (there is the correct oil level) Also having a loud tapping (metal sound) that I believe is valves as putting hydraulic valve cleaner in quieted it down (only for a single drive ) could any of these be the reason?

Attached a link to video of the noise if it helps.

Thanks in advance yall

If you're getting a flap movement error, AND the flap is moving properly, I'd suggest that the problem is whatever sensor is used to tell the ECM what the flap position is. And additionally, that there wouldn't be much to worry about. An aside - I was getting that error code a year plus ago, and verified that the right side (IIRC) flap wasn't moving properly. And of course, by the time I got the replacement intake manifold, it was working perfectly again and has never since thrown that code. So the intake is sitting in storage "just in case"...

On the noise - it really does sound like a "single-source noise", but I have found that using the correct oil makes a big difference... my 2011 X204 (GLK350) was sounding a bit "diesel-ish" running "regular" Mobil 1 synthetic oil, but quieted right down as soon as I switched over the European Car Spec oil (it will be listed as meeting the 229.5 and/or 229.51 specification). Might be worth a change if you aren't running that now (especially if you're due for an oil change anyway).

And of couse, it's always a good recommendation to spend $7 (last time I checked) on a Harbor Freight mechanic's stethoscope. Best tool purchase you'll ever make for a diagnostic tool, IMHO. It might well point you directly to the source of the noise, unless it's internal, deep in the engine (hope not, of course).
