GLK Winter Goodies
Of note:
The Picture they use is of a Silver GLK with aluminium roof rails
(damm) with the back drop of a snow covered mountain Inside they talk about the dynamics of winter tire traction

Why with 4Matic you still need winter tires

So there is the magic they are 235/60R17

They have what a 5 wide spoke wheel with either Continentals or Pirelli
Some of the other goodies inside are;
Ski/Snowboard Roof Racks

Trunk Tray and Storage Box

UMI no its not something new its the ole Universal Media Interface

All Season Floor Mats
I will return my Costco ones these look niceI have until November 6th. I think they should have made it $1,000

No doubt they are going to have a hefty MB price on that tire package

I have to find out how much those rims are, and if I can get a Michelin Xice2 set from Costco.
Well if anyone on here gets this package tell us all about it.
I for one will head down to my dealer this weekend to scope them out.
Good Response and it's a fact. Most ppl driving a 4x4 or 4 wheeler think that they are safe in weather because of their vehicle. When it fact it is not important to have snow/ice tires, but you'll need 4 of them.
$2700 Canadian

$1000 USD for 17 inch set would be reasonable, also TPMS can be skipped for winter set I think.
EDIT: I just priced a set at tirerack, $1222 mounted with TPMS ($220) including shipping.

Anyone that did not get the sport package 20" wheels likely got the 19".
I noted on my 19" tire sidewall that it had the mountain and snowflake pictogram... meet high standards for winter traction performance and should not be confused with Mud + Snow (M+S) rated snow tires.
If you have the 20" I would get dedicated snow tires in Canada...it is the law in Quebec.
If you don't have garage or balcony you are stuck with them, unless you can find a tire place that does tire storage.
I'm huge fan of winter tires, but I'm keeping my 20's this winter. We don't get enough snow storms to really need winter tires. I'm curious to see how all-seasons and awd do in winter.
I am wondering if with these 17" they will have to do some adjustment so that the speedometer compensates for the smaller tire.
$2700 is less than I thought they would charge. I might go for it if they trhow in a free early serviceA and a set of those mats
As far as smaller size, as mb owner said it's all about overall size of the tire. When you reduce the wheel size you will increase the sidewall of the tire so overall diameter stays pretty much the same, and it should stay the same, as ESP and other electronics are callibrated for that diameter.
On a side note I like MB's 5 spoke 17's, very nice and simple, but too much money for winter wheels.
Downtown MB said $4k.
GTA Tire is $1580 for non-MB rims and Chinese tires.
Working on a quote from Buffalo. Should be around U$1000 for Bridgestones & generic aluminum rims.
. They're probably making more than 50 point on that. I guess that the dealer also tried to convince you that you need to used OE tires and rims in order to keep your warranty on the vehicle.
I'll be at Kipliing Tire tomorrow to talk winter's, I'll post the details when I get them...I am looking to go with 17's.
Perelli Tires
I phone my local tire shop, same size (cannot remember)
Few differant choices for Tires, Dunlops etc.
Rims, they have a MB Knock off that looks the same, and has MB centre caps.
$1699 installed.
They did not recommend the Black Steelies

I picked up the tire and rim protection with my GLK and if I go aftermarket for the winter rims i.e. not MB rims, they are not covered, however the winter rubber will still be covered...

As far as all seasons go wait until you try to stop on glare ice or ice/snow slush. I gently recommend you go for ice-rated tires. I used to live in the metro area and I know the kind of conditions you have. Overpasses like on the Belt Parkway ice up real quick.
The problem is the knuckle heads (everywhere) who feel their 4wd pickups or front wheel drive will defy the laws of physics. You can stop and they can't.

I'm going to e-mail TireRack to see if the specs have changed for their tire and they just haven't updated the web site. Or maybe the "MO" designation in the name you cited means yours is a slightly different tire which TireRack can special order.
Will save me buying 17" rims if indeed there's now a readily available 235/50R19 winter tire.
