GLS Mid-Cycle Refresh
The greenhouse created by those side windows is very very promising, IMO. Range Rover type experience, in that respect.

Whats the purpose of standing outside your car and parking it from your phone anyway?
Spots that tight that I cant open my drivers door, I'm not parking there.
it's awesome that mercedes tech showcase has become the e class..a mid level entry. that tech will proliferate quickly across the entire range and industry.
Now, for all the cost of acquiring two vehicles with this very interesting capability, I can probably build a new garage!

I'm actually hoping my sons are the ones to bang up a car/our garage to spare myself the embarrassment of being the first to do so.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Here's a couple videos that highlight benefits of the feature:
(getting in and out of tight parking spaces at home and work)
(And here's a more futuristic application of the Parking Pilot in which it operates as an automated valet service. The Parking Pilot app works together with an intelligent car park garage to send your car off to park fully autonomously and retrieve it for you when you're ready to go. You really have to trust your TECH to do this I think.)

In the mean time, I will enjoy listening this beautiful exhaust sound from the 550 if they plan to change the engine.
(btw yes this is my 550)

Again it is mentioned 'out before the end of 2015', but given the potential delay between 'out' and 'shipping to customers in the USA' this still could mean anywhere from shipping early in 2016 through to slightly early or even normal timing of a '2017' model.
Edit: it is difficult to read the country code but the rest of registration is clear and appears to be from an area in Germany (Böblingen) where " Daimler develops and manufactures its Mercedes brand of luxury cars here."

There has been nothing internal - including MB national dealer meetings - that has mentioned any "early release" of the 2017 GLS.
If anythiong concrete comes up in dealer communication - I will let you know.

The GLE (not the coupe) was introduced February 1st and its still not available. So I'm not expecting to see a GLS until late spring/early summer 2016 at the soonest.

He clearly works for MB and doesn't have an agenda so I'm not sure I understand why you're still holding out hope for a early GLS
Or, even if an early GLS is coming, fab will likely hear it sooner/same time as a web report, but I would trust his update way more than the websites who have been wrong to date

WOW. I'm not "focused on this" nor did I in anyway infer that I am "holding out hope for a early GLS". In fact, the article confirms what Fab has been saying.

What you see here is the new Mercedes-AMG GLS63, the top performance version of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GL. This mid-life refreshment for the largest of posh Mercedes-Benz SUVs will also bring the dreaded new naming scheme, linking the old GL with its saloon counterpart, the S-Class.
That means the facelifted model will go by the name of Mercedes-Benz GLS or Mercedes-AMG GLS63, respectively. Our spy photographers have caught one such example testing on the road and we thought it would be a good idea to share their work.
The Mercedes-AMG GLS63 is wearing less camouflage than it did the previous times its picture was snapped, so we can get a better idea now about how the car will look like. Well, to put it bluntly, it will look like a facelifted Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG, that's how.
The 2016 Mercedes-AMG GLS63 seems to get pretty much the same front end treatment as the other Mercedes-AMG SUVs, with new headlights, radiator grille and lower bumper, and why shouldn't it? The car looks mean enough, but it also can't hide the fact it is a heavy behemoth and we can already see in one of the images how much it leans over when turning.
But that's not why we or anybody else liked the Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG: it's because it was exactly what the new name suggests, an SUV version of the wonderful S-Class. Sure, there are also get the G 63 and 65 AMG, but even though they get equally spectacular interiors, it's that freakish off-road ability that prevents them from becoming true luxury machines.
The Mercedes-AMG GLS63 can get off-road as well, but its looks tell you it doesn't want to. And neither should you.
Alright, back to the pictured car and after the not so impressively taken corner, we get to see its back too. There's not much to tell here, the new GLS63 getting a new bumper and restyled taillights
