I don't get the new lower rear bumper. Step in the wrong direction. The GL is a large muscular SUV and they are putting tiny pointed tailpipes on that huge bumper. The front is a wash, you wouldn't know the difference between the 16 and 17 unless you owned one.

Subtle changes. If it ain't broke, right? Especially since they don't need to do anything drastic til the x7 hits the road in 2018. (Like the GL(S), that vehicle will likely have a proper third row)
Hopefully some fresh stuff in the interior for the GLS.

FWIW, I sat in a GLE 350 today to check out the dash. The new 7" screen looks good but it could have been larger (maybe 8") if it didn't have that 1/2" border. They also added a "Media" button next the "Radio" button. This is a nice addition because you can get back to your Bluetooth phone when playing music by pressing this new button. And the maps look better on the larger screen. The updated steering wheel is also very nice looking.

Yeah, thinking that if that's the only change then this isn't much a refresh at all. Hopefully there will be some new fabrics, color choices, wood, maybe captain's seating? Something to entice

I don't get some of these posts. Its a "mid-cycle" refresh, not a new model. Personally, I like the changes on the GLE so I know what to expect. The LED headlamps and larger nav screen alone are enough for me. I'll be ordering a new GLS 550 ASAP. It will hold me over until the X167 arrives in a few more years.

One, your car is awesome. Are these incremental improvements worth buying a brand new car again? Starting that painful depreciation cycle again?
Two, there are competitors lying in the wings. Namely the X7 (although that's about 1.5 - 2 yrs out), and the Escalade, whose interior really upped the ante. Just thinking that in the context of those options, I'd rather stick with the GL550 you own vs moving to the GLS.
Of course this is all speculation on my part. I'm hoping to love the refresh and put some money down for one. I need a 7 seater and this is the best bar none.

Any word if they are going to allow ordering the AMG package on the 350/450 as they do on all the other models? Also, will GLS have the new 9 speed transmission?
