Finally ordered my GLS350d
Just ordered my GLS350d.
Obsidian black with ginger beige/brown interior.
Sales said that it should be ready by July.
I chose '55U- Porcelain Fabric Roof Liner' .
Not sure if I don't choose it, what the default roof liner color would be?

leather is a must. Cool seats is another option that is a must. Don't listen to a sales person. They want to make sure you buy a SUV. Most of them have no idea about their cars and SUV.
Had 2015 gl bluetec. Had no leather, no cool seats. Hated it.
I am waiting on my gls 450. More power , yes less torque. Active curve assists premium package and intelligent driving package.

Had a 2011 VW Touareg tdi. Cost me $6k to fix the whole issue ,was stranded on my way back from Boston as you know if the SUV says need adblue ( even though it was full of adblue and 5 bottles ready in the trunk). The SUV won't start till the problem is fixed.

I rented a GL from Hertz last week. Drove great. 2016 450. But I would caution that if you don't check the right boxes on the interior it can definitely feel and look dated. Assuming same will be true more or less with 2017

MBTEX is great no doubt, but real leather is a different feel and they both feel a little different and they show age differently.. not a great margin but resale with leather may be slightly betetr
if you didnt get porcelain default is most likely black headliner
