Designo Espresso Brown on black car? Compared to GL Auburn Brown?
I have a GL550 - I think the interior is called Auburn brown.. We are looking to order a GLS550 but there are no leather samples at the dealership. My spouse is in design and wants to see the color.
Does anyone have a Designo Espresso Brown with Black car?
What trim did you get?
How do you like it?
In the GPS I find it a bit challenging. Brown seats, brown dash, brown carpet, brown door cards...it's too much for my tastes. Your better half may agree the brown tint is a bit lifeless and there's not enough contrast.
Couple images of interior and one exterior of GLS550 in selenite with designo espresso brown interior. I had a hard time finding one to view before ordering, if there are any specifics you would like to see just let me know.

I agree here. We have considered going to something a little bigger now and I've been playing around with the configuration on MBUSA.COM. I like the expresso brown but it's just too much. The dash, steering wheel, doors, center console, it's all just way to much.

Regardless if you decide on Espresso Brown, Black, or Porcelain, the key is the designo leather. It is very soft to the touch and smells great. I know many owners go for the black on black but any of the three will look great with a black exterior.
If you custom build, then yes, you get a choice for selecting headliner colors.
Make sure to override the default (if the default isn't the one you want) and put your own selection in the spec sheet.
E.g. we had grey as default and chose black headliner instead.
I'm told you can't override the Porcelain headliner with the Designo Espresso brown.
Correct, with the Designo brown you have the choice of white or white. We really did not like the white before owning, however very quickly we have come to greatly like it.
Not likely what you want to hear, but the white alcantara (or whatever MB calls it) is a massive upgrade to the standard in texture and appearance.

I agree with these comments about the white headliner. There is a lot of dark going on and lighter headliner works really well. I get why MB went this direction for the designo interiors.

thanks. There were two concerns:
1. White negating the night out affect.
2. White appearing dirty or aging color change over time.
