2018 GLS450 third row vents

Does the 2017 or 2018 GLS450 have vents in the 2nd and 3rd rows as a standard? I saw a 2016 GL that didn't have vents in the 3rd row and was told that to get the vents in the 3rd row some option was needed.

Correct - you need 3rd zone climate control in the GLS450 - it's standard with GLS550 - check the back of the B pilllars right behind the front seats - add's vents there - and adds two vents each side of roof - 2nd/3rd row - and adds climate control panel on center console facing 2nd row

So without the "rear THERMOTRONIC Automatic Climate Control", the 2nd and 3rd rows will have no ceiling vents? My dealer said that there should be ceiling vents in the rear rows but is controlled by the front controls, which is sufficient for us, as we don't need the climate controls in the 2nd row console, just need ceiling vents in all the rear rows. Now that you tell me this, I'm going to confirm with him again as I'm not convinced.

However, I'm in Canada, so not sure if the standards and options are the same as the USA.

Thanks for the info!

Btw, can you tell me how is the air flow without the extra air vents that come with the exclusive package?

i also think 3 zone climate controls adds the button to allow the 3rd row windows to vent open. my 08 gl550 has this, while my gls450 does not (no 3rd row ac vents either)

The option adds vents to the ceiling for both 2nd and 3rd row. Without the option, you still have vents in the 2nd row, but not in the ceiling. There are 2 in the middle console, and 2 on the B pillars.

Good to know that there are sufficient air vents in the 2nd row. Thanks for this info!

We have the "P01 Premium Package" but that alone does not give you the pop-out windows in the rear (we don't have pop-out 3rd row windows).

I think pop-out 3rd row windows are maybe available only with a panoramic roof.

Not sure if the panoramic roof automatically gets the pop-out windows with or without the premium package.

We have the 3row climate control and the vents are on the 3rd row celling as well as the b-pillar behind the second row.

You're talking about two different markets (US and Can). That's sort of why you're getting confusing information.

Canada's "Premium Package" includes:

Roller Blinds for Rear Side Windows
Multicontour Front Seats with Massage
Soft Close Doors
Heated Rear Seats
Climate-Controlled Cupholders
Panoramic Sunroof
Power EASY-ENTRY System
harman/kardon® LOGIC7® Surround Sound System
KEYLESS-GO
Power pop-out 3rd row windows

While the US' "Premium Package 1" Includes:

Blind Spot Assist
Apple CarPlay
Power front passenger seat with memory
Multicolor ambient lighting
Lane Keeping Assist
KEYLESS-GO
Illuminated front door sills
No-charge navigation map updates for 3 years
SiriusXM Radio with 6-month All Access trial
SiriusXM Traffic and Weather with 5 years of service
COMAND hard-drive navigation
In-dash DVD/CD player and SD card reader
Voice control
Android Auto

Got it, thanks.
Wow that's quite different between the two markets.

In Europe, the power pop up 3rd row windows are part of the panoramic sunroof option. Cant get one without the other. It looks like it is a similar situation than the passenger electric headrest adjustment and lumbar control which comes only if the car is equipped with the read seat entertainment pre-wiring.

this information is GOLD. I DO NOT have pano or 3 zone climate control, so no pop out windows for me. Can any U.S. people confirm that pop out windows come IF you have the pano roof?

Maybe that is probably why most U.S. GLS450s have pre-wiring. I have pre-wiring, so I guess because of that, it comes with lumbar and electronic head rest adjustment for front passenger?

I have pano and i can confirm that I have the pop out windows in the third row. I DO NOT have 3 zone climate control. I have the pre wiring and the electric adjustment for the headrests for both driver and passenger.
