Does 3rd row get hot on warm days without 3 zone AC?
I'm looking for a CPO 2017/2018 GLS 450/550. Most of the 450 CPO do not include the 3 zone climate control option which adds AC vents in the 2nd and 3rd row roof and B pillars.
For those that live in warm areas, does the 3rd row get hot/uncomfortable on warm days?
I'm coming from a E350 wagon which does not have AC vents in 3rd row. The folks who get stuck back there (kids) get car/motion sick on warm days. It gets very hot and stuffy in the 3rd row. I don't want to have the same issue with a GLS but it's so hard finding one with all the options I want including that 3rd row AC vent. ( I know it's standard in the 550, but there are so few CPO 550's available right now and most are very far away from us).
Any feedback on the comfort of the 3rd row on long trips during hot days is appreciated!
Thanks!

It is optional on the 450, standard on the 550/63.
Basically adds vents to the B pillar for the 2nd row, and vents to the roof in the 3rd row. (in additional to the vent that's in the back of the center console for the 2nd row, which is standard on all GLS).

We have a 2016 GL 450 (and we had a 2007) without the 3 zone AC in San Diego. The third row does get hot, and although the AC does eventually cool it down, it takes a while. And my wife says it's pretty miserable back there when we visit my in-laws in Arizona. We will be getting the 3 zone AC when this lease is up in October.

3 zone AC or 3rd row AC? i am not aware of an option to have 3rd row AC? on the other hand all the gl550 i have seen have the 3 zone climate control. it could be a regional thing though, i can't remember if it was standard or optional

I've seen some CPO listings call it 3 zone climate control while others call it 3rd row AC. Basically it adds AC vents to the B pillers for 2nd row, and AC vents to the roof area by the 3rd row. It's standard on the GLS550 and optional on the 450.

In Texas or Arizona, yes, it's gonna get hot back there. A white car will get only a bit hot, a black car will be scorching.
In Carmel Ca, you have little to worry about.

If I never leave Carmel then that's not a problem. We often do road trips to Southern CA, and several times a month go to the East Bay area, which goes to 100+ in the summer time. Even Gilroy, which is only 40 minutes away, gets to 100+ in the summer.

Searched high and low for a CPO 17' 450 with 3rd row AC option. We like the pop out 3rd windows more (for the dogs) but also wanted 3rd row AC (for the dogs) like we had in our 12' gl350. Finding both of those options together was a no go, finding one or the other in a color with options we wanted was also hard. Not sure why 3rd row AC wouldnt be a more popular option considering the 3rd row seating 😂

I've got my mind set on the following options
Lighting pkg
Appearance pkg
tow hitch
3rd row AC
HK
Premium pkg
Parking pkg
Driver assistance pkg
2nd row sunshade
in any color except red
So far every vehicle has been missing at least 1 or 2 of the items on the list.

From my research back then (when we shopped for ours), a lot of the 450 don't have these options to keep the cost low, otherwise it became harder to sell (that's what the dealer told me).

I'll just have to be patient and keep looking. So far very few GLS available on used/cpo market. Probably because it's only 1+ year old. Hopefully there will be more this fall as some of the 2yr leases gets returned. I'm hoping pricing also improves as BMW introduces the X7 so there's some competition.
