Noisy doors. Or interior?
Noisy doors. Or interior?
Hey what's going on guys. Trying to pinpoint some terrible rubbing I hear. I believe it's coming from the doors. The weatherstripping. I came to this conclusion because when I travel over uneven ground it sounds like some type of leather or rubbing sound. So I opened all the doors and went over the same ground and I hear no rubbing . I really think it's from the doors. Anyone else have this issue. I've tried spreading a little protectant over the weatherstrip so it's got a little gloss on it ... Still same rubbing. Does anyone think maybe the doors have to be adjusted? Originally I thought it was the mb Tex rubbing against itself. But I try moving the seats and I can't get the sound to replicate.

Ok, so guess no one else had this issue lol. It ended up being the very top of the doors that little rubber trim that touches the top of the door frame. When i pushed on the door from the outside i was able to replicate the sound. loud rubbing. I put a little silicone lubricant on the rubber and poof, Noise gone lol. what a relief just bought this truck a year old and was really annoyed that noise in the cabin was an issue. Other than the noise i was loving the truck. Thanks guys
Yes that’s it Tom. Also had this issue early on and self lubricating worked for a while. The dealer had a more permanent fix with some other type of solvent. I’ll try to find the service ticket for that, as no issues 4+ years after that.
I have a 2020 GLS 450, and after about a month I started to have the same issue with a really annoying rubbing noise issue. It was really loud at low speed going over any bumps or bumps.
The dealer had it twice trying to fix the issue, fortunately the second time seems to have been the charm. They cleaned all the seals with some solvent and I have had no issues again, so cleaning it really well seems to be the trick. I am putting this comment here as I am sure more people are going to get it.

Solvent
Hi,
I’ve been having the same issue. Seems to get better after washing but goes back to making sounds after rain or a couple days go by. Do you have any idea the name or type of solvent that was applied on yours?
thanks!

Any rubber seal or weatherstrip can be:
1. Cleaned with a damp microfiber cloth. Clean the adjoining door jamb (body sheet metal) also.
2. Treated with Gummi Pflege
Cleaning and Gummi Pflege treatment can be done to all dynamic seals on all five doors: side door large bulb seals and small lip seals, and liftgate large bulb seals. Moonroof and underhood seals also.
