Pricing Advice for a 2017 GLS450

This forum has been helpful in my GLS research so many thanks to those who contribute. My wife and I have talked about buying her a GLS as our family vehicle. Figured we’re a year or two away, but in light of these crazy times I’m wondering if dealerships are more motivated to move inventory right now. Since we still have small kids our plan is to buy a loaded GLS that's a few years old.

The GLS pricing trend I’m seeing is that most of the certified 2017 models I’m looking at had an MSRP of $82, and with about 40K miles are listed between $39-45K. I came across a GLS at the dealership where we had a great experience buying my GLC. The GLS that caught our eye recently came off a lease and was purchased at auction, and is certified with all the specs we want. Original MSRP was just over $80K, it has 41K miles with new tires, and a clean service record. The dealership currently has it listed for just under $45K which is on the higher end of KBB’s price range.

Any advice on what price point would make you feel like you were getting a great deal? Thank you in advance!

stinson23 - first off, good luck with your search and decision making. Your question is a bit difficult as many variables are in play, all the options included, the Dealer's mark-up and bottom line, etc. Seemingly if you could secure the vehicle for $40/41k that would be very good. I would confirm with the Dealer that the B2 service ( 40,000 mile service) has been completed - it's not inexpensive for that one and that it is a CPO Certified and you will enjoy the 2+ years of Extended Original Warranty. The new tires are a plus. Confirm the "In Service Date" as that governs timing ... ? an early MY17 placed in service in 2016 or .... Again, good luck. Steve

CPO only gives 1 year of warranty but you can buy up to 2 additional years for 3 years of unlimited extended warranty. You should be able to get a loaded 2017 CPO for around $40k. More leases will be turned in over the next 30 - 60 days so prices should continue to decline rapidly in the coming months. Don't be afraid to throw an offer out and walk away if they are not willing to deal. I've seen many of the "no negotiating" dealers that are willing to negotiate.

BlownV8 - my error - you are correct re the +1 year of CPO warranty.

For what its worth I bought a 2018 GLS brand new ordered with just about everything in it for 81K after taxes etc. So not sure what is in your 17 model and with miles I am sure the mark up on Certified vehicles is pretty big.

FYI, I just decided not to purchase a 2017 GLS 450 at Mercedes of Omaha. It's CPO, 53k miles, listed for a tad under $39k. They were willing to sell it to us for $36k, including fixing some cracked interior wood.

We had it overnight and loved it. The sole reason we didn't buy is because frankly, we don't need it now.

I did think it was a good vehicle and a good deal.

If you're interested, it's currently the only CPO GLS at MB of Omaha. PM me and i'll give you additional details about whom we were working with.
