Weight Distribution Hitch for GLS 450
Weight Distribution Hitch for GLS 450
Hi all. I am looking for a weight distribution hitch that meets the specs of GLS 450 hitch. I think the shank is max at 7.5" and about 2" rise or drop. I am pretty new to this. Any recommendations on the WDH I should use? TIA.

There are plenty of options out there, and you may receive several opinions.
IMO friction sway controls built into, or in addition to, the WDH are the best for preventing sway.
My WDH is a EaZ-Lift with bars appropriate to the tongue weight. And cheap EaZ-Lift friction sway bars. You can certainly spend a lot more but I don't believe the hype for some of the high priced spreads.
BUT, also IMO, Setup and Loading are more important than "Which Hitch."

while that is true, the advantage of additionally using a WD Hitch is to take weight off the rear axle and distribute it to the front axle and trailer axle(s).
i have used the terrain height when coupling up the trailer and connecting the hitch, then lowered it to road mode when going on the trip. excellent feature.

Thanks. Do you think the height from the top of the hitch receiver and the base of the ball shown in the picture is too much? On the spec it says should not more than 2". Did you use the vehicle rising feature when hooking up the trailer and then lower it when it's hooked?

seems a little high.
i tend to walk away 40 yards and see how everything looks from a distance. you will want it all together to be level.
yes, the raised GLS will help to take weight off the bars and since the lower position is the normal driving mode, that's what i ultimately set the hitch for and aim for regarding setup height.
