I’ve had a 2017 GLS550 a little over a month now and I’m surprised at how good of a mileage I’m getting. This was a recent weekend trip for my family of four with a mix of city and highway.
That's amazing. Same fuel economy as my GLE350. So the GLS550, a larger and heavier vehicle with a larger engine, gets the same fuel economy as a smaller vehicle with a smaller engine. Wow. Congratulations!
I agree. I was surprised at my GLS450 on road trips. I wasn’t expecting the mpgs to be this high. I can easily get over 500 miles on a tank of gas on long hwy road trips.
We are looking to get a GLS and the only reason I'm not really looking at 550 is because of fuel economy. But those numbers you got are not bad at all.

80k miles and almost 5 years here. 14 mpg over that entire time. Probably 70 percent city. This is measured with the app gas cubby. I'm happy with that, I also don't think over 20 mpg is realistic.
Those petrol economy figures are astounding! I'm struggling to achieve those in my GLS 350d (albeit I like to use my right foot), but still, pretty damn good!
During the past he a t dome in Seattle (115°F). I'd wager the new 580 gets even better MPGs.
nonetheless, very happy how rig performed during a 4500 miler trip, mostly thru hot temperatures.
