GLS550 Noise when engine shuts off

hi all. it seems like i only come back on when i have an issue or when i'm buying a replacement car. i love this forum. thanks to everyone who contributes. i have received a ton of help here.

so we picked up this 17 GLS550 back in April of 21 at a non-MB used car lot. we then added the 7/100 ELW with Jeff Jackson.

the noise in the video seems to be coming from the right front engine compartment area. it happens every time the vehicle is shut down. doesn't matter if it was driven, or even put into gear. simply shutting the engine off makes the noise. video of the noise is

Any ideas what that is? is that normal? our GL550 never did that.

Sounds like normal intake noise to me.

i was concerned because our GL550 never did that.

i have to bring the car in for service soon. the SAs at this dealership routinely blow me off because i know very little about cars. just trying to get as much info as possible prior to that.

MB GLS450
How old was your GL550? Was it an X164? I believe those were naturally aspirated V8s and not turbocharged like the GLS550.

the GL550 was a 2015. i think that was x166 with 4.7L and v8 with twinzies

Does a turbo vacuum actuator cycle closed when the engine shuts off? That's what I am hearing after shutdown.

Ummmm...Solved??

the car was at the dealership today. as an aside, the wife dropped it off. they either didn't find anything wrong or didn't look for anything related to this noise.
car was all done, and i phoned them to ask about where the noise came from. SA said that the tech didn't find/hear anything abnormal. he asked, "is there any more information you can provide regarding it?" i told him that i posted a video to this forum. he asked for a link. i gave him my cell # and he said he would text me and i could just send the link.

he didn't text me. instead he texted the wife. ahhh the details....

i asked my wife for his # and texted him the vid.

instead of responding to my, he again chose my wife, called her and he said that it was normal "gas pressure discharge" from an engine component, similar to a truck releasing air brake pressure when it's stopped.

i am admittedly clueless, but, based on my dealings with this dealership, it seems pretty convenient that there's nothing wrong with my car...again. there's never an issue with my local dealership...unitl there is https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...ml#post7545158

Sorry to hear of the dealer ineptitude and time wasting behavior. Normal, unfortunately, for the hooligans MBUSA has signed up for dealers.

C230K, GL450, gl350
Sounds like the air compressor for the suspension. It vents the air to a tube from the compressor to under the fender. All air to the suspension comes in and goes out from the compressor.

You should have the compressor and suspension checked for leaks and proper operation.

I do most of the work on my cars.

It's normal for air to bleed from the compressor/distribution block. As long as the airbags/suspension hold air its okay. I just replaced all airbags, distribution block and compressor. Any leak in the airbags or D-Block will excessively wear out the compressor until it stops working.
