Guys I need advice on whether I should purchase a 2017 GLS w/ high mileage

2017 GLS 450 w/132,000 miles for $21,000. Clean carfax with no accidents, one owner who appeared to only take it to Mercedes dealership. Based on service history you can tell it was back and forth from south Carolina to Michigan quite often so I'm guessing a decent chunk of miles are probably highway miles. Its being sold by a Ford dealership , no warranty.

Would you consider purchasing this car or am I setting myself up for a bunch of headaches? I've never owned a Mercedes. Thank you I'm advance !

Late model 166 vehicles (2017-2019) are the best preowned MBs on the market today imo. The M276 V6 engine is solid, as is the fundamental 166 chassis which has the bugs worked out of it by these model years. Air suspension on the GLS may need new springs (air bags), these are considered regular maintenance items.

Service history is paramount, that it was all done, and on time. If you are new to MB, you need to commit to doing all scheduled maintenance on time, or open yourself to future headaches. Transmission fluid replacement every 60k miles is especially important.

Rear power third row seats can be flaky, otherwise it's a solid vehicle. It might need new brakes and tires, but that is not unique to this platform and would apply to any preowned vehicle of this vintage and mileage.

Thanks for the quick response! Im used to doing simple jobs on my own (Brake pads rotors etc.) will I be able to replace these items on my own? Or is it different with a Mercedez? Sorry if thats a dumb question.

Not a dumb question. These brakes are simple to replace. The most common mistake is not retracting the rear electric park brake properly. The correct procedure is well-documented on this site.

Make sure you grease the sliding pins on the rear brakes. They are known to stick and cause excessive inside brake pad wear.

About the brake job, what type lubricant would you use for the calipers?

Use a synthetic high temp brake parts lubricant.
