We own both a MB store and a BMW store - literally next to each other - and on my most recent 580 delivery - both my customer (primary driver) and his wife took the opportunity to drive the X7 (again) after a test drive of their GLS580.
They are "experienced" and "sophisticated" buyer's - for example the Bentayga simply doesn't give them the rear-seat comfort they wanted.
And in this case - with this customer - in this case I would "win" either way whether he bought the GLS580 or X7.
Granted this GLS is "loaded" incl E-Active - MSRP $127K on this one - after "fresh" full afternoon drives in both - customer is very clear "this GLS580 is the finest SUV I have ever driven - hand's down ".
How did you get MBUX Interior Assist added? I saw it was delayed until June 2020.
No idea.I didnt order it ,it was ordered by the dealer .Apparently the owner of the dealership has connections in Germany and they have more allocations than most dealers in the area. Out of 5 Gls580s in 250 mile radius this dealer had 2 which happens to be 10min drive from my house and 1 had everything that i wanted .Win win for me

to be honest this car has so much ****,i still haven’t figured out how to use it all.Only thing i tried is turning on reading light with gesture,Whole house has the flu and i didnt even have time to play around with all the features since parking it yesterday evening .

I can only offer a data point, don't have any direct info or conclusion as to why you might be experiencing a delay. I placed my order November 4th which included MBUX interior assistant. I was originally told build date in first decade of March with early April delivery. A week or two ago I inquired for an update and I was told the order was locked and the build date is 2/17.
Perhaps the delay, if due to a shortage, doesn't affect orders already placed.

hmm interesting. I'm already pretty upset over the issue with the metal weave trim that created havoc apparently with my order. I just dont see another trim that I'm interested in.
For the X7 vs GLS comments above, I recommend the thread in this forum, that’s specifically about that, if you haven’t seen it already.
for the interior assistant on the GLS... I thought it was a gimmick originally, to wave your hand around to do things. But I became sold on it after watching the YouTube video that explained/showed how it does a lot more. For example the main display will change as your hand approaches it, to offer extra options that you don’t want in the way while you’re just looking at it. Or another example is that if you reach down into the passenger foot area it will automatically light that area. It seemed like a subtly good tech improvement, rather than the overly gimmicky finger whirling that the BMW X7 has which is probably more annoying in its efforts to offer help
picked up car this evening, all went well. Will follow up with driving impressions, so far very happy.
Rear executive package, very comfortable headrests! Safe at home in garage. Center tablet seems dumb, need to play with that to see if it does anything.
Night package looks great with Silver. BTW, one thing I already discovered the night I picked up my 580 is the salesperson was sitting in the passenger seat and went to turn on the passenger seat heater and the whole seat heat button popped out of the door. I have an appointment with service to get it reinstalled. So if you haven't checked your passenger side seat control buttons yet, you might want to do so.

thanks i'll have to check that out. Only issue i have seen so far is last night in the garage with the car off the passenger side front headlight was randomly just on......i unlocked and locked the car and it seemed fine after that.

Dont know if its just a coincidence that you guys have some issues on the new car or not but since you started talking about it I thought I’d chime in.
3 days after delivery my second row bottom seat cushion has stitching coming off from just regular use, went to service department and they will be replacing the cushion .
And one more thing i noticed is the car noticeably shakes when in park and idling.Will have to take it in to have service department look at it.Definitely not a good start

seat coming apart is completely unacceptable. I am expecting some tech issues with a new model, but build quality should be a given on this truck.
