When buying a $100k+ vehicle I personally dont care about consumption especially when opting for a V8 .I can tell for sure that x167 consumption is much better than x166 .

i too have noticed car vibrating at idle,will have to turn off eco start/stop and see if it helps
. Is your hood reveal consistent front to back ? Mine is 1/4” by the headlight and 1/8 by the door pillar,thats buggs me alot.It shouldnt be like that on such expensive vehicle.
i see what you are saying about the wheel arches.The space between fender and arches will be getting dirt trapped inside which will look like crap and will require pressure washing as you will not get to it with a towel .Good thing my car is always garaged and will be getting minimal pollen in the spring.

According to MBsweden there is a sign when it’s in 4 cylinder mode. Ask your tech guy to show you when you adjust the vibrations.
My dealer ordered me 2 cars...1 with the metal weave trim I refused to give up on ( accd to Netstar, production is 3rd decade of April) and another one with exactly the same specs, but a different trim which Netstar has as 3rd decade of March. I asked about 2021 also...and dealer said, if that becomes an option I could get a 2021 for the same price.
Dealer has been great, dont have any issue with them. But I take everything with a grain of salt considering the wealth of real life information I get from this forum.
Thanks. Quick question for others who've taken delivery. Did you have the front license plate bracket installed?
They are required by law in the state I live but I've been driving for many years without one on my sports cars. I've never been pulled for it but have gotten a ticket when I was pulled for speeding. I'm looking at some early pix of how they mount it and I think it kind of ruins the look of the front grill, so I'm tending to not have it installed. What do others think?
This old post just popped into my feed for some reason. Here was my solution to the front plate mounting on my GLE: https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post7795120. I think it looks better not interfering with the chrome line of the front fascia. Took some custom mounting of the bracket, but has worked fine for 7 months. Someone said it might not hold up in deep snow, but in those conditions you can pop it off in about 10 seconds.
Delivery or building start?
Mine is expected to be build in 3 weeks and delivery late April or beginning of May!
Delivery. I placed my order back in September and even gave them a deposit check. I was initially told maybe end of year. In December they said I finally got allocation and we were looking at March.
My original salesperson quit and I just talked to another guy and he says now its April. I've asked both of them to get me a PO number or a VIN from the Netstar system and they both said they don't have anything yet but the order is going thru. I really don't know if they are stringing me along or what. I've never actually seen them check anything in person so they could just be making this all up.
If I'm not driving this thing by the end of April I am cancelling my order. Reading all these horror stories with quality control recently had made me re-evaluate Mercedes anyway.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations. That being said, don't expect anything different if you wander over to BMW. The X5 forum looks just like this one in terms of issues. This newest batch of connectivity and infotainment upgrades have really challenged these manufacturers. On the plus side, by the time your car [hopefully] gets here they will have sorted out many of the initial issues.

If an order has been accepted by MB there will be a PO number. Insist they give you that, or better yet, send you a page from the NetStar system showing it. If they can't or won't do that they are stringing you along and haven't actually committed an allocation to you.

He is going to have the sales director call me back. Is it possible for anyone with access to Netstar to check the status? I wonder if anyone here can check it.

No, NetStar is the Mercedes system that only they and the dealers have access to. Don't know who at the dealer you talked to, but all sales associates should have access to it. There are several different views available including options, configuration & order/production status.

Just found out I finally have a May D2 allocation for a 580, ordered in September but I had the Designo trim which wasn't available, so I lost a January slot. However, with that extra time I did decide to go with 6 seater, so glad to have the time to rethink. This is later than I was hoping for and have mixed feelings about that late in the model year, but yet happy to have it scheduled.

Yes I know what Netstar is. And I also know there are Mercedes employees on this forum which is why I asked if anyone could check it. But I finally got some info today.
First let it be known that this is Mercedes Clear Lake in Houston. I called again this morning and got another runaround with a promise of a manager call back. I went to the dealer this afternoon and after going thru 2 different people I finally talked to the Sales Manager. He apologized for all the hassle and gave me his cell so I could deal with him directly. He also gave me a printout of the order with PO number.
TL;DR My 580 has a Production code of B3 and is on track for early April.

Not really that bad since the 580 didn't start any deliveries until late December and didn't roll out in volume until January. So you aren't that far behind.

Agreed, but I was concerned about getting a 2020 when the 2021s are coming out a few months later. But we’ll keep the car awhile so maybe it doesn’t matter.
