Order or wait for the 2021

Thinking about doing a custom build order, but I think if I wait 2-3 more months, I can get a 2021 - right? Are there supposed to be any new features/colors/etc.. in the 2021? Worth waiting?

They are backlogged with the 2020 deliveries still, I imagine MB might not even do 2021 at this point...

I'm guessing they won't start building 2021 till August/September and deliveries won't start till September/October. So if you need something before that time, then you should order right away. They are having some issues with production. Both of my September orders have not been delivered, been stuck in B4 status since 2/4/2020. MBUSA claims there's a parts shortage causing the delay with unknown ETA.

If your going to custom order might as well wait for 2021. The 2020 builds seem to all be delayed at this point anyways.

Awaiting a 2021 GLS580

I’m planning to wait for a Model Year 2021 and from my preliminary research it seems that the new model years start after the Alabama plant shuts down in July, typically around July 4th (US national holiday for independence day). So in this case I would think any GLS produced before the shut down is considered a MY2020 and anything after is a MY2021. It seems that the queue of MY2020 GLS’s would have little effect on the shutdown and if you had put your order in for a MY2020 before the shut down but it wasn’t produced until afterward you would receive a MY2021.

Please correct me if i’m wrong because I’m waiting until July/August to put my order in so I can see what option changes are present in Netstar before I submit my order. I’m well aware there will still be a bit of backlog so it’ll probably take a few months to get my custom ordered GLS 580.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I decided to pull the trigger, hoping to get the car in early June (or maybe even late May).

I don’t think it’s all orders.

I placed an almost fully loaded with e-abc and burmester 3D etc. order first in line in Sweden, 23th November with allocation 3/02/2020.

It started building 24th feb and finished 28th.
Out from factory with MY20.5 update 2th March.
Now waiting in port in Brunswick...

Hope to have it late April or so 😀
