Ordered a 580 in October. Heard last week that the build date was going to be 27 February. Got a call yesterday that the build date was moved up to 19 February, but that the car that was built for our PO was completely different exterior and interior color and options. Now suggesting a July delivery on a new build.

Any suggestions?

Don't take it if it's not what you ordered.

July build would mostly likely be a 2021.

The factory doesn't just build a car that is different than the order. Were you copied on the PO? Something fishy about that story.

I know someone who ordered a GLS450 and ended up with one missing like 4 features. Window sticker literally said credit for missing features. It was even missing some standard features. It was weird and very distressing for my friend.

The factory "on rare occasion" may build/ship a SUV that drop's a feature - and as reported they show that on the window sticker as a credit against the original build.

NO the factory does not change color or interior on a order - your dealer is blowing smoke up your *ss.

op you should have gotten a VIN during initial start of production, try and match it with car that dealer is offering you right now .Most likely it will not match(different car).I think dealer sold your built car to someone else for a higher price and trying so scam you by offering a completely different vehicle

Update:

They gave me a new build slot for May build and offered to cover any repairs to my current vehicle in the meantime. I have a PO number now. How do I track progress using that?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Only the dealer can track, unfortunately. Tell your sales guy you want a PDF of NetStar status every couple weeks, and if you don't get it bug him.

My sales guy would text me a screen shot from Netstar every few weeks or whenever there was a status change. Very tech backwards compared to BMW but that's all Mercedes currently has.
