MBUX Vs Burmester

I was just reading that the MBUX technology package isn't available with the optional Burmester Sound System.
Does anyone know exactly what functions the MBUX performs and is it worth keeping over the Burmester?
I've never had the optional Burmester Sound System so I really don't know what I'd be missing without it.

I think you may be referring to the choice between burmester high end and MBUX interior assistant. See below for more details about both.

The High End 3D Burmester has a speaker where the Interior Assistant goes, so that is the conflict. You can order Augmented Video for Navigation as a standalone, but not the Head Up Display, I believe. The worth of the high end system is the subject of different opinions. I would miss the Head Up.

I was able to order the heads up display as a standalone. I got the high end audio though so no gesture control. Couldn't imagine a scenario why I would want the gesture control.

Ok, glad to hear it's basically gesture control I'd be missing out on.
I'd rather have a better sounds system than an interior assistant.

A gaggle of MB's
Interior Assistant was added just because BMW had it... frankly Interior Assistant (Gesture Control) is bullsh*t - and not MBUX linked to boot..

The only good thing about Interior Assistant is it brings up the current settings menu when you hand approaches the screen or touchpad. Not sure what you mean by not MBUX linked.

It definitely has some better functionality than BMW's (like reaching into the passenger seat as a driver when no one is in it will turn the passenger side dome light to allow you to see into that seat better (and then turns off when you remove your hand), or knowing the difference between a driver trying to control the infotainment vs passenger.

I think it's more of a gimmick at it's current iteration, but I could see it becoming standard in a few years when it evolves with more luxury functionality.
