Interior Gesture feature

Does anyone opted for "MBUX Interior Assistant" option for the gesture control?
Just trying to see if anyone find it useful once they tried it.

I have it and set it to for the navigation system to speak the next turn instructions. Usually not necessary but it has been helpful in some city driving where I don't like to take my eyes off the road but would like to know what turn instructions are coming next before it's time. It takes the place of the sunglass holder which for my wife and I wasn't an issue since one of us was going to have store our sunglasses in the rear seat cupholder anyway. In this new design the rear seat cupholders are accessible by the front passengers by reaching to the back portion of the front middle console. Is it a must have - no. Nice to have - for me yes.

I knew it was mostly a gimmick when I got it. The only useful thing is that it lets you set a single shortcut gesture. I have mine set to turn on massage seats.

Other features are that the light automatically turns on when you reach into the passenger seat. And certain buttons popup on the screen only when your hand gets close.

That's pretty much it. The S-Class and other cars have a lot more gestures.

I agree it is mostly a gimmick. I reached in the passenger seat last night and it surprised me when it came on... LOL

I like the idea of setting it to seat massage. I normally ask "Mercedes" to turn it on...

The other silly gimmick I passed on is the "mood" settings. I also passed on the executive rear seating. The only executives back there are my kids. No need to make them feel even more entitled than being driven around in a 120k bus 🤣🤣🤣

Gesture Control

Can any other GLS owners in the UK tell me if they have it? I purchased mine in December 2020, had it checked over by a dealer as it wasn’t working for me. They have just informed me it just isn’t there?
it states it should be in the brochure as a standard feature on all models.
Thanks

you can tell if you have it by looking at your overhead console area.
if you have a sunglass storage compartment, you don't have the gesture control.
that area either has: Burmester speaker (If the vehicle has that option), module for gesture control, or sunglass storage.
and Gesture Control is not a standard item. it's an optional feature

In the UK as far as I understand the MB brochure it’s a standard fit. Yes, I do have the sunglasses holder it it’s place. Hmm. Be interested to find if any other UK owners have it or don’t have it.
All UK vehicles are AMG packaged. High end Burmester not an option here.

I see. Interesting.
I can def see MB pre-packaging and configuring different equipment levels for different regions.

for sure, the actual hardware to support the gesture control would go in the space where your sunglass holder is instead.

It would be interesting to know if MB could swap out the sunglasses holder/ overhead light panel with a gesture control module as it seems to be standard on UK models and maybe was left off on the production line by mistake?

I can’t seem to get the gesture control to work. I have a service appointment next week, so wanted to see if it’s my own user error.
I have it set to do massage seats.
It never seems to reconcile the two finger gesture.
Anyone else found a trick for this?

Ok, apparently i was doing gesture too close to the screen (like the video shows how the screen reacts to movement near the screen). You need to hold it back behind the cup holders but up near the screen. It works every time when I do that.
