Multicontour front seats with massage availability?

I placed an order for a fully loaded out GLE 450 but at the last minute, the dealer told me that the comfort package which includes the Multicontour front seats with massage is not available until the rest of the year. This seems to be a widespread issue with the GLEs right now due to some shortages.

I am now thinking of what options I might have left and one thought I had is that I could order a GLS instead.

But has anybody ordered one recently with the multicontour front seats? Does anybody know if its available for the GLS? My thoughts are that potentially it might still be available on the GLS.

Multicontour seats have been on hold for all Benz models for a couple of weeks. If they are restored, I would expect they would first be restored starting with S-Class, and will take some time to trigger down to any SUVs. There is a chance that they may be restored before the MY is over, but the outlook is bleak.

It has been removed from my GLS order as well. W223 forum also talks about the same thing. And I am quite confident this is not the last shortage issue we will face; there is a fundamental shortage of semiconductor supply in the world, which has been brewing for the last 6 months, and it is starting to show its ugly face now, and sadly I also think this is just the tip of the iceberg...

ordered mine 3 weeks ago and was told massage seats were unavailable due to running out of allocation whatever that means. they told me if I wanted them I could wait 3-4 months. being a small dealership and getting their last build slot for april I decided not to wait. if the seat kinetics still come with the seats that will be enough.

I ordered a GLS580 back in middle of December. I was told vehicle is scheduled to be built by end of February and delivered in March. Aren’t these seats the standard ones in the 580? Does this mean that there won’t be any 580s available???

Doesn't seem to have affected the 580's.

I ordered a fully loaded GLS 450 this afternoon from MB Manhattan New York. Before I ordered, I asked my salesman if the multi-contour seats option was going to be a problem. He was aware of the issue from before but he said he was not notified and was able to put in my "order", whatever that means. He said the only unavailable option is the tarfuto and brown leather for the seats.

But it may be too early to tell so lets see if in the next few days he will update me as to the difficulty of getting some options.

Do you have a PO number? Or did he just put you in the order bank?

Honestly, I do not know but we were coordinating the specs the whole morning. I will ask him but please tell me first what PO means?

Paxfobiscum, I am assuming this is still a 2021 (as in the switchover to 2022 has not happened for the orders yet), right? I have a 2021 on order which has not yet started building, so I would like to hear from you if you are successful in this order, so that I can go back and add it to ours.

Thank you in advance.

Yes it is a 2021. I told my salesman that I will cancel the order if the order indicates that it will not build by June. He said yes and will provide me with updates. Another alternative is for him to find a car that has my specs, or at least comes close to my specs. Either way, I will buy a car from him so he is vested.

It means you have an actual factory order spot. It will also show which production decade(part of the month) you are in. So your dealer should know now when your car is being built.

I am on the same boat with you. I have a decade set in June for this. But for now, the multicontour seats are not a part of the build due to the previously mentioned limitation.

What I would like to hear from you is whether you were able to add the multicontour seats to an existing order at this point in time or not. Because that will trigger the same request from me to add it in there to my order as well.

Many thanks in advance.

He took my order, ran my credit card, put it in the "system" last week and even made the changes that I wanted. I added the dashcam and changed the seat configuration to 6 (opting for the Captains chair). I honestly do not know if there was a "PO" issued. But he told me that we will know by next week the build date and the delivery date. Maybe he is not telling me everything but he knows I am serious about this June deadline and informed him that if I don;t get that June delivery then I will buy a GLS somewhere else. He is genuinely helpful, but I think he is also frustrated with the system and wishes he had the car to sell. I will update you by the end of next week.

Sounds like he just put you in the order bank and is waiting for an allocation

UPDATE:
My dealership has an allocation and accepted all my orders. However, the delivery is set for July and not June, which was my condition for the order. He lowered my offering price if I accepted delivery in July and gave me the option to have my deposit refunded. He DID NOT state that the multi-contour seats were not available.

Thank you. Thanks to your post, I was able to add the multicontour seats back to my order successfully earlier today.
