Except for cracking my windshield early on it’s been fun. Very obvious power difference, though the 580 is not underpowered. Still hate the seatbelt alarm.

No doubt the differences between the two models are very obvious when I go for a test drive.

What were your motivations to switch to the AMG model? I already know performance edge was up there near the top of your list. What else?

Anything that you actually disliked in the GLS 580 that you were glad to be done with?

Did your insurance premium go up much?

Benzdrummer - Congrats on the '63. Am very interested in any future posts comparing the 580 to the '63. And also, if you tow, any comments on the differences. I have a MY18 GLS450 and am debating on which to upgrade to ..... Thanks. Steve

The big diffuser of the 63 gets in the way of inserting the hitch receiver pin. It works after a lot of effort. First world problems!

I am also coming from a '21 GLS 580. After owning / driving for 7 weeks now, I find the handling too floaty, too much pitch and lean (I didn't get the E-ABC - I thought it was too gimmicky, mixed reviews and down the road maintenance upkeep). On a side note, I had no MBUX system, no radio, Nav, car ride option, etc - no middle screen for the first 6 weeks of ownership. The dealer had to order a new computer from Germany - it appears to be working fine now. I love the car. I test drove the GLS 63 back to back with GLE 63 and the GLE is by far the better choice, if you don't need the 3rd row. The GLS 63 is still too lumbering in my opinion, especially compared to the GLE 63. I debated between the two, but hands down, it is the GLE ! I recommend you test drive the two yourself. But if you must have the 3rd row, then you already have your answer - but I would still drive the GLE - you wont' regret it! Attaching Pics of my current '21 GLS 580

Forgot to add the "Pros" of the 580: I find the 580 seats more comfortable than the 63 and not a fan of the alcantara / suede / microfiber material seat boarder on the 63 - but the Napa leather is more premium n the 63 . The 580 front grill looks better, in my opinion, than the 63 panoramic grill. I also prefer the 580 tire options vs the 63 tire options. I also prefer the wood and leather steering wheel option on the 580.

Congratulations. the car looks fantastic.
I got mine flashed via OBD port hack to disable the seatbelt alarm.
I also got my guy to reprogram to remember the last setting of auto start/stop setting on restart.
the best thing that he was able to do was Euro-Multibeam headlight unlock. wow, that feature is sooooo cool. it's crazy that US DOT doesn't have the multibeam approved.

I would LOVE to enable Multibeam. Is there a hack to turn off the stupid “Remember your key” ding?

I didn't know you could flash MBs like that! Would love to know how he does it!

unlike BMWs, coding on MB apparently are extremely limited on what it can do.
my vendor told me that he can do:
Auto start/stop disable
Seatbelt chime off
automatic parking brake disable
multibeam headlight unlock
suspension lowering for eABC
single touch turn signal change to 5 flashes
do-not-forget-your-key message off

I didn't see too much of use for some of those so I opted out on those.
he charged per item.

The drive is not hugely different other than obvious power. I like the front grill. I don’t tow so don’t know anything about that. The phone charger is very finicky and annoying. Would like to get the seat belt alarm override mentioned above. My wife has 21 Audi RSQ8 —frankly a better car but not a fair comparison. After it arrived, I sold a GT and bought this 812–talk about power—geez.
