AMG front brake upgrade on GLS/GLE

Has anyone tried this upgrade? I hate the old floating caliper setup and want to upgrade to 6 piston. New Genuine Mercedes-Benz GLS63 GLE63 W167 AMG Front RED big brake kit from Ebay. Come with all Mercedes parts and an adaptor mount bracket? Is the mount different on a GLS63 X167 vs a GLS580 etc.? Any clearance issues for 21 inch wheels?

What don't you like about the floating calipers setup? Aesthetics? Fade?

FYI, the Car & Driver tested 70-0 stopping distance on the GLS450 was 154'. For the GLS63 it was 153'.

Question becomes if the tires or the brakes are limiting the stopping power? Interesting video with lots of discussion on it:

However when you upgrade your tires(+rims), then the brakes might be limiting the stoppage and the brake upgrade will help as they did in below video with GR86:

I was just checking the below article with some discussion about it also.
Is It Better To Have More Pistons In Your Brake Calipers?

Better initial bite and more force applied which is great for full loads and towing. Difficult to get a good hard pedal like you get with multi piston calipers. Floating calipers are less efficient and require more service to ensure they apply force equally over time. Sliding calipers don't "slide" the same as they age etc.

There is a big weight difference to consider too. GLS 450 is 5467 lbs. and the GLS 63 is 5940 lbs. More weight requires better brakes.

The GLS580 has the same brakes as the GLS450 but is closer to the GLS63 in terms of performance, weight etc.

Great take! I didn't realize sliding calipers don't slide the same with age. My previous CLS63 has the six piston calipers and they were great. To be honest, I haven't thought about the brakes in my GLS450. I guess I just got used to them. It will be interesting to see what kind of retro fit you figure out. You could always check car-part.com for take offs from a low mileage wreck.
