Test drove the 450 and 580
Hi,
I'm looking at purchasing my first GLS. I absolutely adore the exterior of the car, more than a man should for a large suv. I was certain the 450 would be sufficient for me, I'd get to add the options I actually needed.
We only drove on local roads, but it wasn't as smooth as I thought it would be. It's powerful, but something was missing. I wasn't planning on driving the 580, but after that experience I wanted to compare the two. That definitely felt smoother and responsive, like you'd expect. The difference for me was stark and not as much as I anticipated. I'd tested a. 2019 450 and 580 and didn't notice as much difference back then.
So it looks like it's the 580. One question I have, there's no option for 3rd row heating except in the G63, right?
Thanks

I was considering a GLS to replace our Pacifica for my wife, but we wound up with another Pacifica. Now I am considering a GLS to replace my S Class, and for the family vehicle I was content with the 6 but for me I would get the 580 for sure.

Try driving the 450 in sport mode, it is a major difference and when I want some spirited driving, that is my mode. But note in sport mode it will consume more fuel and does not go into 9th gear on the highway.

I'd also say that, if you're driving a VERY new model, there might be some factory throttling in place. It may be imagined, but once I started my 450 for the first time after the 1000 mile mark, the engine felt much more responsive...
