23" Front Wheels on the Rear - 2022 GLS 450
Has anyone gone ahead and put a set of the 23" front wheels on the rear of the car to accommodate All Season or Winter tires ? I am looking at this as a possible option to get a proper winter setup and want to make sure that I will not have any kind of fitting issue.
As always, thanks in advance for the knowledge.

The only setup where "squared" is expected are 20" and smaller wheels.
The front wheels are narrower than the rear wheels by over 1.5".

Awaiting a 2021 GLS580
@rhinoman I have struggled with the whole 23” summer tire thing for a while and it’s the main reason why I didn’t accept delivery of my custom ordered GLS580. I responded in your other thread and the closest thing I have come up with is to go with the Pirrelli Scorpion Zero All-Season 325/30R23 (30 instead of stock 35), then get front ones with a similar circumference. This is not ideal since these are slightly lower profile tires and Mercedes would never “approve” them but it seems likely they would be acceptable and are unlikely to adversely affect your warranty (excluding a rim warranty which may get voided). I’m really curious what you come with because I’m itching to re-order a GLS580.

Also, I have seen a few members in these forums that are running with squared setups especially during the winter.

I have been thinking about your statement of it possibly invalidating a warranty. I can see that is possibly if the actual wheel diameters are different which causes an issue for the 4matic, but can't imagine if I got with a squared 21", 22" or 23" wheel that it would cause any sort of problem with what Mercedes was trying to achieve with staggered wheels. Staggered wheels are typically just for better performance and handling and I doubt it would affect anything that is mechanical.

If the car can’t handle converting to a square setup from a staggered without damage, especially if diameter is maintained, then I would hardly call it an “SUV” of any sort. What you don’t want to do is have variable wheel diameters because that would put excessive wear on the differential and cause problems. Keep them the same diameter and go with whatever you like.
