Costco Tire Pressure - WATCH OUT!

I had winter tires installed at Costco yesterday. When they handed me the paperwork, I noticed that the TIRE PRESSURE was set to 41 / 44 PSI. Yikes!

According to the Mercedes recommended pressure (behind the fuel door), my "normal pressure" should be 31 / 31. So before leaving the parking lot, I had to let out 10-13 PSI from each tire!

So make sure to double check, if you're having Costco install tires...

Check your driver's side doorjamb. Maybe the Costco technician knows what he is doing.
41/44 is what the official label on the doorjamb asks. Bring the issue to MB but not Costco. I believe they issued a bulletin for an incorrect label. You better follow your doorjamb moving forward.

This instructional graphic from M-B illustrates the tire pressure confusion. I'm following the guidelines found on the fuel door:
"...Customers should use the tire pressure found on the fuel filler door label."

Searchd the car and tires.
Tires 113 V apear to be XL, SL is loadindex 109 in this sise.
So are allowed to carry 1150 kg/ 2535 lbs a tire, upto 160kmph/99mph, AT 42 psi.

American system P-tire At 41 psi, so no councidence 41 psi given for front, not calculated for the axleload and max technical carspeed.
Found the car to have GVWR of 3230kg/?? Lbs on Dutch site, so expect the GAWR's to be about FR 1615 kg and Rr 1780 kg.
In earlyer days they calculated recomended
pressure for GAWR's and max technical carspeed with no reserve .

So I will make you a list in wich you can look back your 99% acurate determined axleloads in your use ( succes with that, most tricky part) or GAWR.

Then it gives max reserve at wich comfort and gripp still acceptable.
Will even give for gawr's in the 30ts psi.
Then advice to laws of nature, wich always rule above ideas of carmakers.

List can be used for every XL loadindex 113
So AT 42 psi, max to use speed 160kmph/99mph

I always follow the door sticker and keep 41/44 in my GLS. The car was delivered with this pressure and I'm maintaining it at the same level.

Its standard procedure for techs to fill to the max level. Your Mercedes dealer will do the same. Its not going to hurt anything other than a harsher ride.

The normal value is on the fuel door.

Discount Tire too. I think they all do it for liability reasons.
