U.S. 2024 GLS580 vs. Canadian 2024 GLS580 Tire size
I know the subject of tire selection for this truck has been discussed here before but I just noticed that the standard tire size on the U.S. MB site is 285/45R22 front and 325/40R22 rear, summer high-performance. The Canadian MB site is showing 275/45R21 front and 315/40R21 rear, all-season. Those sizes were literally copy and pasted from their respective sites. Does anyone know why the difference?
I tried building the 2024 GLS580 on the U.S. site and 21" wheels aren't even an option. Not sure what's going on but after reading the tire threads about the lack of all season tires available for an SUV in the northern tier of the U.S. is ridiculous. Canadians have an option and Americans don't. I'm a MB fan for sure but this is just dumb. Unless I am not understanding something or reading the websites wrong I will not be replacing my 2017 GLS550 with a new MB. The stock tires on my 2017 said "M&S" on the sidewall but that same tire on the tirerack site was shown as "summer only". When I called the tire manufacturer customer service number and asked about this she told me Mercedes asked them to add "M&S" on the side wall for their OEM tires. Not sure why a tire manufacturer would do that due to liability concerns but that's what I was told. Here we are 7 model years later and this is STILL an Issue. I am currently running Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus at the stock tire size. They are a good tire. Little louder than OEM tire but at least it's an all season. I love my 2017 but eventually I want to trade it in. Not looking like I will be able to. Very frustrating.

MBUSA's position on this is ridiculous considering that the vehicle has an off-road mode either via the off-road option or by adding E-ABC. Maybe it's some kind of intentional blockage by them to try to sell more G-Wagens.
There are no certified off-road tires, incredibly.
Even worse, no certified all-season tires.

It seems there are simply no all seasons in dimension 325/40R22 at all, certified or not. Only the ridiculous high performance summer tires exists in that dimension. It's pretty outrageous.

When it comes to consumer rights and protection, I've noticed Canadians are better off compared to US car buyers. For one make, heated steering wheels and surround cameras are standard in Canada while in the US they're not!
It makes sense to me that Canadians get the 21" and far more options for AS/Winter tires as they are more likely to see inclement and cold weather. Mercedes USA is able to take advantage of reduced consumer rights so it's summer tires for everyone!

There are MO, MOS, and MO1 tires available in 19, 20, 21 and 22" sizes.
Just get one of those if you want Mercedes spec tires. Or any other spec, if you choose.

Yes, I've looked into that. The only tires they have are summer and winter in a 21" or 22" size. That's my point. Even my 2017 GLS with stock 21" wheels have all season options. I don't want to swap summer and winter tires twice a year.

If "they" don't have them, can't you shop somewhere else?
I'm liking 3PMS (Three peaks mountain snowflake) tires, AKA All Weather, instead of All Season, for year-round use in harsh environments without biannual tire swaps.
"All Seasons" are typically known as "No Seasons" because they're compromises in all the seasons.
All-Weather tires are made possible by new rubber compounds, that can operate Sub-Zero but not suffer tire wear when it's hot.

As far as you not liking all season tires...that's your choice. I don't want either of the summer only or winter only tires based on my personal situation with this particular vehicle. I have another vehicle that I swap out tires for blizzaks but I don't want to do that on this GLS. I have reasons that I don't want to get into. I don't like long posts.

They refers to Mercedes benz MO tires as you suggested. I went to the website and selected 2024 GLS 580 then selected my dealer (2 actually) and "they" only have summer and winter tires. No all season tires.

My point was that, for Midwest driving where your signature says you live, "All Season" tires are inferior to the new crop of 3PMSF tires, now called "All Weather."
3PMSF tires actually have a Snow Traction Rating that must be certified for the symbol to be applied.
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a1...-winter-tires/
I used to have 4 cars that had complete sets of mounted winter tires each. That's 16 tires in storage at all times, and a bunch of jacking, rolling and swapping of tires, even without dismounting, twice a year. And 16 tires require almost a garage stall just for storage. So I share(d) your pain until All Weathers arrived on the scene - 3PMSF.
I use Nokian WRG4 because they were first and I like their quality, but the sector is crowded now and selections are good.
The time, space and money I save are wonderful, and I feel safe when it's horrible on the roads. Ice traction is amazing, and I'm confident going through bumper-deep snow.
I'm not aware of any MO spec All Weather tires, though.
I keep MO-1 All Seasons on my AMG, for performance, but I'm not doing track work any more, so its next set will be All Weathers.
They probably won't be MO spec.

But there are no all season/all weather tires in size 325/40R22 for the rear, at least none that I can find anywhere. MB really screwed us over here, with the insane 22 inch wheels as the only option on the GLS580.
