2017 GLS450 - Thermostat housing

Just had an overheat and hose blow. Water pump failed. Replaced water pump and hose and now about to swap the entire thermostat housing as it sounds like there is a lot of air passing right where fluid would enter engine block. Any tips on changing the entire housing?

Sorry to hear. The resident expert on the M276 3.0TT is @S-Prihadi

Have a look in the W212 section where there is a strong DIY crew and this engine was used on that platform.

Update

Got a new thermostat housing. Was able to remove wiring harness and charge air unit in order to remove the entire thermostat housing. Once removed found a whole new problem which is why I was hearing the air me tioned in previous post. Pic below:

This piece where red arrow points to is in between the upper covers? It is rubber. Am trying to figure out what this piece is called and a pat number and how to swap it out.

Any help greatly appreciated.
