GLS 580
Exclamation Cruise control max speed limit

Hi everyone, got my 2024 GLS 580 couple of months before. There were some issues right from factory, because lane keeping assist was not working. Went to dealer and they updated software. After the update, lane keeping assist works fine, but now there is a limit of speed, which can be set in cruise control. In Europe we have 160km/h (~100 mph). Dealer said that all new versions will be with this limit and there is nothing can be done, because its for security reasons. Its not for GLS only, it will be for all models. Has anyone noticed that and figured how to remove this limit?

Top speed in the US is 210km/h (130 mph):

I believe it should be the same in Europe but you should check your owner's manual!

There is a chance that the cruise control setting is more limited and conservative and should be well below the top speed of the car (a cruise control setting double the speed limit or more of most locations creates a huge liability!).

Maybe BenzNinja can program it to a higher limit.

It's partly regulations, partly equipment. Without DAS, DISTRONIC is limited to 160 km/h in the GLS. With DAS in certain countries it's limited to 210 km/h. DAS adds stereo cameras among other things, so the reason DISTRONIC can work at higher speeds with DAS is the better hardware. It's not just a matter of increasing the limit.

I thought DAP became standard starting in MY24 GLS. OP has a MY24!

That is new. Because when i tested cars before buying all cars did had this limitation. Even when i got a new car it also had no limitation, only after software update this came. Basically they fixed one issue, but messed up with another. How to remove this limit?

Do you have the Work Order that addresses what was updated by software?

Things happen pretty fast at 130mph. I certainly don't want my Cruise Control in charge at that speed.
