Any suggestions for a good all-season mats for the GLS - 6 seater?

Tuxmat and swap out the badges for Mercedes ones for a more OEM look:

I can second @wildta . We purchased a full set of TuxMat floor mats with the seat and trunk liners and are very happy with them. All our other vehicles have WeatherTech FloorLiners (we used to live a few miles from their factory) and we don't regret the switch one bit.

I got the TuxMat today and installed them. I love the quality and styling, but I think there is a design flaw in these mats:
  1. For captain chairs, the 2nd row mat always get in the way of the captain chair rails, that the chair will roll them forward (right electric/partial-fold chair). No matter how I tried to re-position the mat, they seem to be too big and get in the way of the rails. I was able to fix this by cutting/trimming the mat by about 1 inch from that area right in front of the rails and that fixed the problem.
  2. The 3rd row seats seem to have some sort of a vent or openings (I think for air circulation?). The 3rd row mats cover this trim peace 100%. Am not sure what are the consequences.

Sorry I can't help and feel bad that I didn't preface that I have a GLE but remembered that Tuxmat had an option for the GLS when I was cross shopping the GLE/GLS. I don't have my rental GLS anymore since I'm back at home so I don't have any reference to help.

We have the bench seat. When first installed, the 2nd row mats were initially tight and would move when we moved the seat, but after a couple days in the car they molded more to the floor and we haven't had any issues. We didn't want to use any of the carpet clips, but that would be an option to better hold things in place if you are concerned with the fit near the rails.

As for the 3rd row floor vents, we didn't worry about it and haven't had any issues.

I actually had 4 clips around the rails, and the chair would still pull the mat up. The bottom of my rear seats has a bunch of wires (they are cooled seat, so am not sure if that played a factor). Anyway it's mostly the rails. Like I said, the only way to fix it was by trimming just a tiny bit from the the area right in front of the rails so that the mat is tucked down.

For 3rd row, I really would like to know what those vents are under the seat. I don't want to cover the vents if they are used to cool down some critical component, battery or 48V battery related component , etc. I have it covered for now, but ultimately I'd like to find out why Mbenz designed those vents under the 3rd row. There must be a reason and I hope it's okay to cover those.

The 48v battery lives under the front passenger seat. Your 12v battery resides under the driver's seat. So probably neither of those. Maybe try putting the climate on high on all areas (upper, lower, front, and back) to rule out if it's related to the climate control?

Good point about the AC. I only tested it on Auto mode, but didn’t try MAX with upper/lower/front/back. I doubt it’s AV vents though… 5-zone package only adds hood/roof vents from what am reading but I could be wrong

I'm starting to wonder if it's audio related. Do you have the upgraded audio?

No they are not related to Audio, am pretty sure about that. They are very narrow but long to be sound related.

The upgraded audio system has equipment stored in that general area. My thought is its possibly airflow to that equipment.

Since you've already cut up the other mat, maybe you'd be fine with hole punching the 3rd row mat with something like this:

SENROG 12 in 1 Hole Punch Set, Hollow Punch Set for Leather, Gasket Hole Punch Set, Rubber Hollow Hole Punch Set, Plastic Sheet Gasket Punch Set, 3/16'' to 1-1/4'' Hole Punch Kit with Handle https://a.co/d/1jBYkLV

yeah but mine has Burmester, but not the high-end version... Is it possible that they just have useless vent for production standardization?.

How does the third row get air conditioning and heat?
There must be some use for that opening....

I thought those floor vents were for AC but I've never actually checked.

I trimmed my 2020 weathertechs to uncover the vents.

This is what I found when taking a look with camera inside those vents under the 3rd row.

looks like return duct for 3rd row AZ zone? I have the 5-zones AC option

I have really liked my Tuxmats. I assume you got the ones for captain's chairs. I am not familiar with them since I have the bench seats.

I did have to get extra clips from them. They sent them quickly. The carpet clips never had enough grip for me to be effective.

We put black Canvasback in the cargo area with seat back covers on the second and third rows and covers for the side walls of the cargo area. We also got their longest piece that covers the bumper when loading. They have worked great.

@Splaktar is the canvas back easy to remove or get out of the way if you need to access something from under the floor of the cargo area?

There is a cut out for the cargo floor latch. So it's easy to access without removing anything. I just have to move my concertina out of the way if it's not out over the bumper.

It's a good solution if you don't need a water tight cargo floor.
