2020 MB GLS450 Noise - Transmission or Brakes?

I'm looking at buying this GLS and took a test drive and heard a grinding, almost clicking sound when slowing down and braking. The car has about 59,000 miles on it.
After driving the car for 10-15 minutes the sound went away. Have anyone had a similar thing happen? If so, what was the issue and fix/repair?
Would you buy it?
Thanks so much
- Mose

I would try to avoid MY20 GLS as that was the first year of the current gen!

If you really like the car, hire an independent mechanic to inspect it!

My first guess would be they washed the car and the pads rusted to the brake rotors.
I hear that often from mine, except the Clicking doesn't quite fit.

MY23 has been mostly issue-free aside from occasional electronic glitch.
If you want wireless CP/AA, you'll have to buy new or a 1 year old MY24 unfortunately!

While I would agree with this if buying new, by now issues should have been resolved under warranty. I have had only a software issue and heated/cooled cupholder switch issue in the 20k mi/21 months of ownership of my 2020. You can always buy an extended warranty as I did. With CPO and extended warranty, I am covered until Feb 2027.

Pretty sure you can no longer CPO a 2020 as it should be beyond the original 4-yr/50k mile warranty!

That's probably true, but he can buy a Fidelity Platinum warranty like I did for the 2015 S550. I've been very happy with Fidelity.

In some ways the Fidelity has has better coverage than the CPO.
I go out of warranty next year and I'll probably go with Fidelity.

I had a MY20 GLS that developed a number of hard to describe squeaks, rattles and clunks over time that as a lay person was never able to sufficiently pinpoint to the dealer. The dealer took the car in to test a number of times and attributed some of that strange noise to EABC, changed out the rear shocks, put new tires on, but was never really able to go beyond that and suggested sending the car to a dealership more knowledgeable about EABC. I traded it in for a MY24 without EABC instead and am totally satisfied with my decision.

Coming from X7 with Dynamic Handling Package, I found that the E-ABC was useless on the GLS that it doesn’t add much to comfort and mostly at leaI was worried it only adds headaches and maintenance hassle from reading about it even in other subforums (I came to this conclusion last year when I considered it, but i never tested 2025s though i think they are the same). It took me about year to finally settle back with a GLS now and airmatic.

E-ABC is not for everyone. I had it and didn't like "Curve Mode" at all. Passengers did.
But we haven't seen posts complaining about reliability issues.

"Curve Mode" was about the only thing I liked about it. Made it feel planted on the ground when I took a fast turn on a cloverleaf for example, IMHO, E-ABC was overrated and not worth the money. But everyone has their own experience of it I acknowledge.

I think certainly it does help on curves, but my point is, for some reason it was stiffer in city roads... Part of it (I assume) may have to do with the added hydraulic system instead of a full system that is based on air - I have no idea, but I didn't like how it performed in city roads. At least if felt as if there is no measurable improvement unless you want to take a curve.
Like others said, I think it is way overrated. The DHP on my X7 worked so much better and at least was functional (I always felt that rear wheel steering was even more important than anything, which the X7 offers). I wish the GLS offers rear wheel steering. Definitely would have been must have feature for me if it was available.
