Some Quesions on GLS580 Mods

First id like to thank you guys as this is a very informative forum, helping each other out,

I'm finally settling on a new GLS580 i couldn't get the exact car i wanted and im desperate so id like to do some mods, if anyone can advise

i hate the sport steering wheel with a passion, would i be able to install any new style steering wheel from lets say an S class?

how about removing the side step can i just add a side skirt molding from a 450?

is there anyway to fit in a spare tire with the Higher end 3D sound system?

thank you!

share a picture of your oem steering wheel. Depending which you have could offer different variations

2021 GLS 450 & 23 GLS 450. Have a Holden Commodore, Jeep, truck, and more
I would imagine removing the side step and installing the molding would be easy enough. I did the opposite on my 450 and it was pretty simple.

At the end I found a Unicorn 2025 GLS450 with E-ABC which was the deal breaker with a sticker price over 136k
it’s a beauty on the inside nappa brown and whatever comes with it. totally blacked out on the outside.

I gave up the V8 for a smoother less vibrating car.

Came with 23”s Already bought 21” OEMs will replace them after summer

Just FYI, the GLS and S Class steering wheels are identical. Is it an AMG package car with the AMG wheel? You could install a regular GLS or S Class wheel, same wheel.

The unicorn 2025 GLS 450 with E-ABC was a deal breaker and you found another GLS 450 that you wanted? Other than the steering wheel you showed us, what other options does it have?

Strange, on the configurator, amg line is not even an option: https://www.mbusa.com/en/vehicles/bu...tegory=options

Usually night package also include amg line options but not in this particular case.

According to the configurator, you need to add night package to get the 23 inch wheels.

So I got curious again and played with the configurator: https://www.mbusa.com/en/vehicles/bu...tegory=options

I thought being the S-Class with amg line, it will still get the traditional wheel but no, amg line on the 450 does change the wheel to the amg style one, the standard amg line on the gls 580 does not change the wheel.

Yep, you get the sport wheel on the 450 but you're right, the 580 seems to keep the standard wheel. Weird!

I prefer the standard wheel actually, it looks more elegant, just in my opinion.

Visually, I think it also depends on the appearance of the switchgear.
But for comfort I definitely prefer the microfiber.
And for performance, I like the little buttons below the spokes, which control multitudes of operations. I use my "I" button frequently. I wish there were two "I" buttons like BMW uses.

Yes, the drive unit, I think MB took inspiration from porsche except we can argue MB did it better by offering more options with those little buttons and screens, porsche didn't have a sreen in the rotating knob.
