I assure you this is false. We have a former pothole crater that has been turned into a road hump and only impacts the right side wheels. e-ABC 100% cancels out the hump every time we drive over it.
I find this accurate for my E-ABC as well.

Cleaning the camera lens helped with reading the bumps so I try to do this annually now. Some guides on DIY cleaning the stereo cameras:

Photos of the e-ABC gear and our console. As you can see the motors and struts are easy to identify in the rear. In the front you really just see the hydraulic lines. Because we have the off road package and a low range transfer case the suspension button is replaced in our console and moved to the quick access menu.

Rear left motor, strut, and hydraulic lines

I believe this is the suspension button in other examples which simply brings up another menu.

Additional menu photos of E-ABC when:
  1. Shift in DRIVE
  2. Dynamic drive mode is set to OFF-ROAD
  3. Push the SUSPENSION button on the center console

I guess the other function to see if a vehicle has E-ABC is the dynamic drive option: CURVE. Airmatic suspension would not have this.

A primary difference between the old ABC and the new e-ABC is that the hydraulic pumps were belt driven earlier and now they're direct drive 48 volt pumps. And improved sensors.
That may be the reason previous version was limited to 130 kph, 81 mph.
I don't think it was fully disabled above 81, but features were limited, as I vaguely recall from press releases.

OTOH I can attest that ARC is fully functional at 115 on the track.

It was limited to 81mph due to hardware limitations. Cameras' framerate, being the main limitation.
Above 81MPh the system goes into a passive mode, and just absorbs bumps the best it can.

We're in agreement then.
I think they've also introduced more accelerometers, or more sophisticated ones in the current e- version.
Elimination of belt drives gives more power and quicker response time.
I'd hope that it increases the mean time between failures as well.

For the 2024 GLS 580 without the off-road package and with e-ABC, the Low Range button is replaced by an off-road icon that opens the Off-road screens on the display. There is no Suspension button (as posted up above with the shock absorber icon).

Looked at a GLS580 yesterday. Didn't have the e-ABC, but had the stereo cameras upfront.
@Splaktar, thank you for that tidbit. Just to make sure I understand correctly: No "Low Range" button label means no Off-Road package on the e-ABC equipped GLSs, yeah?
If that's the case, you Sir just saved me a 14 hour trip to look at one, and I thank you for that. Didn't even think to check if it had the off-road package.

Yes, I believe that is correct. It still has a single off-road mode, but doesn't have all of the bells and whistles like Low Range, skid plate, additional off-road modes, etc.

I think it still might have the skid plate. I could be wrong though.

It's option code: 481 Underguard

My understanding is that the underguard is required with e-ABC.

For 2024 build, the option for E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL was DC7 which included 481 Underguard and 490 E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL.

On 2026 order, it's just showing as DC7.

Continues the “pay more, get less” trend.

Just a quick clarification on the above. Post back in August was referring to what was showing on the order build sheets. 2024 build sheet showed the 481 and 490 codes as part of DC7 while the 2026 build sheet only listed DC7.

After the car was delivered, checked VIN decoder which shows that the 2026 also has the 481 and 490 codes.

In reality, this turned out to be the opposite as we actually "paid less, got more" due pricing/demand differences when 2024 was delivered (nearly no discount) versus when the 2026 was delivered (more discount) and some quality improvements (tires/interior) as well as standalone options availability (463 HUD).
