Thoughts on Catalana Beige / Bahia Brown

Hello group,

I am still investigating my options before purchasing my first MB. Now I’m stuck on the interior. I know it’s kinda personal preference but I would be glad if you can help me. I am in a dilemma between Catalana Beige and Bahia Brown and the trims I can combine them with - especially open pore grey oak or walnut.

1. Does any of you ordered Catalana beige and how is the maintance/durability of it considering being more light than Bahia Brown. And what’s the reason being almost 3k more expensive than Bahia?

2. I know that both of Catalana beige and Bahia brown are a nice combo with grey oak, but how are they combined with walnut? Unfortunately we got only 1 dealership in here and there are no such combinations.

thanks in advance!

thanks for your answer. Can you tell me are you satisfied with the leather quality and do you have any issues with dye transfer from jeans?

thanks!

Yes the leather is very nice - maybe not S class nice but pretty damn close (my friends have newer S class ) ... No issues with dye transfer after 7 months ...

Personally I like the darker brown - but this car was already configured and I got a deal - but lighter brown has grown on me - girls love it

A lot of the dealer inventory has Bahia Brown and it's beautiful and the darker color will be less resistant to staining. Mine is Bahia Brown because I bought it off the lot. It has a light gray headliner. If I could do it over, I would have custom ordered Catalana Beige, which comes with a black headliner, both of which I prefer to my current. The lighter beige is so beautiful and more rare. Please order it so Mercedes doesn't drop it from the options list, I want it on my next car!

I have a 2024 GLS in Twilight Blue with Catalana Beige leather. I think the interior is beautiful, especially with the Natural Grain Brown Walnut trim. I was torn between Catalana and Bahia, but I'm glad I went with the lighter color. I have to clean the blue transfer from jeans from time to time, primarily on the left seat bolster where I slide in and out. Even with a good leather cleaner, it doesn't quite get perfectly clean. (The picture was taken without a recent cleaning.) The light-colored stitching in the seat remains a bit discolored. It's not ideal, but I can live with it.

What an interior jealous. Enjoy in good health. My family member one is just plain old grey scale : (

There's very little to do about ink transfer with light colored seats other than compulsive cleaning to remove the stains before they build up and become more visible. I personally prefer the darker leathers because it reduces the required cleaning to keep the crisp look. In most cases, the protective coatings help slow the transfer and give you some material to scrub off without damaging the leather if you let it go a bit.

Our E has the macchiato beige interior because we needed a car that day and it had everything else we wanted. It looks great, but it takes effort to keep the seats looking nice. Unless you go the detailer route and take a magic eraser to the seats to get the stains off.... which we are less than thrilled about doing.
