The left side of my hatch pulls in very tightly , it seems. The right side is perfectly flush with the taillight. It appears that the left side is 3/16" 'tighter into the opening. Can this be caused by the closing motor being too aggressive, i.e. out of adjustment. Just bought this 2025 , used and noticed this. Can the 'travel distance of the closing motor be adjusted to lighten up on the 'pull'. This has to be compressing the seal dramatically on the drivers side of the hatch. Thanks for your observations.
This should have been caught by the dealer that performed the pre delivery inspection, PDI.
They owe you an adjustment.

I'm thinking this was not a MB dealership (CPO) vehicle? I've had rear tailgates out of adjustment from the factory one time before on our previous 2013 Toyota Highlander, easy fix for sure. However, I agree with the guys above, noting to verify no previous damage to the car to cause this? That's a pretty big misalignment, one that I might question if the factory actually did.
I just adjusted the stop on the left side. It helped a lot. But not completely.
This is a CPO . So it's going back to the dealer. thanks for your help.
