I think that I read somewhere where some Klown said that, in European testing, the E60, with four people in it, smoked the E55 (with only the driver). Viewing this video, that seems very unlikely.

I agree Vomit. Very close until the 5th gear. If I am not mistaken the M5 has 7? Both are great cars. I just love the styling of the E55 better. Also, where on today's roads with traffic can you open it up that high. Not here in Charlotte, NC. It will be interesting to see what AMG has in store for the next edition of the beast

 

It did not smoke it, (depending on you definition of smoking), but it did beat it in the end after a long while side by side.

BTW, in the video the M5 has at least 2 persons in it.

Yes, it's supposed to be the E63.

 

When I went to the track last fall with my buddy he pulled on me that same way at the higher speeds (over 100). I had a stock E55 and he had a E55 with Renntech & Pulley.

Does not surprise me that the E55 would hang with the M5, no sedan can go that much faster then our E55's under 100 mph. I can not wait until I run into a new M5 on the road, it will be fun

 

BMW can have their fun now, wait until the 6.3 liter comes out!!!

When AMG launch its new series of engines it will be exiting to se how they comapare with this one.

1/4 time 12.2@120,57 cant be that bad considering they are run on normal road surface, not a prepped track.

the M5 beat the E55 hands down, cornering the M5 will beat the E55 hands down, over all look M5 beats the E55 hands down ---thats my opinion. We also have to keep in mind that its an E55 AMG and it's just and M5 if it was an M5 DINAN...well the E55 would be seeing the M5's exhuast pipes since the start.


i dont think it's fair to compare a tuned car vs a non tuned car..and also supercharged vs NA and then again V8 vs v10. But even so done so i think to get a good fair race the M5 should be tuned by one of their tuners just the E55 is tuned by AMG. Then i think it would be a fair race...and hands down to the M5 beautiful! id do anything for the previous look of the M5 and the new one they are just beautiful


not that i dont like the E55 amg just that i like the more agreesive look of the M5 and better handeling. But the E55 amg kicks ***, im not saying if i got one for free i wouldnt take it :p just that i rather go for the M power...i heard they are great to drive

 

What American magazine can you cite which regularly runs its acceleration tests at a "prepped track", and not on a normal road surface? Afaik, none of them do their runs on prepped tracks, at least not on a regular basis. Why is this ubstantiated claim repeatedly being made as though it is an established fact?

 

Do us all a favor and learn a little about cars in cars in general before you make another post. It's pretty odvious you have no clue what you're talking about. What exactly is a non AMG E55?

 

it would be a detuned engine pushing about 150 less horsepower lol and it would look like an E500!

I'm just saying have a tuned AMG vs a tuned BMW...nothing more --i'm saying a BMW engine is better to ME and the look is alot nicer to ME.

Let's break this down for you, since you're short on smarts & knowledge:

E500=BMW 5-Series
E55=M5
RENNtech E55=DINAN M5

Easy enough?

 

A tuned AMG is the E55, is your mind numb? Holy crap...

A fair comparision would be a RENNtech E55 vs. DINAN M5...

 

For example if you supercharge a M5 00-03 V8 by Dinan your results would be alot superior compare to the E55 AMG

Peak Horsepower: 621 @ 7000 rpm

Peak Torque: 502 lb/ft @ 5500 rpm

I'm stateing saying that a non tuned E55 would be the E500!! and its only fair to say have AMG compared to a bmw tuning company thats all !!! so AMG is not a tuning company?? jeez people ...sometimes as a benz owner we have to admit a lost...

The E55 comes from the factory with a supercharger. The 00-03 M5 did not, it's that simple. If they wanted to S/C the new M5, they would have. Instead, they gave it a V10 to complete with the V8 S/C that the E55 has. So, your comparison isn't correct. Get it? Oh well, probably not...

 

So the M series by BMW isn't a tuned 5-Series car? I know I'm arguing against a moron, but jeez, I can't let you get away with your ignorant comments.
