C55 vs simultaneous 540I IS300

You've got to love the ancillary interstates on the East Coast, lots of room to really test the metal.....anyway, I am driving along 195 doing about 78 or so and a Silver 2003 BMW 540i pulls up next to me. He's in the right and I'm in the middle lane, so I start to pull away from him, just my style, stay away from other vehicles, wasn't trying to do anything except get to my customer. The more I throttled the more he tried to match it...It was annoying so I'm thinking, got to smoke this guy......and was about to do so.....and then a IS330 comes up on the Exit 5 entrance ramp and he's all modded out and must have seen the two cars moving it and I see him coming up my rear view. So now I have both of them taunting me.

That was it...... so I floored it passed the 4500 RPM and that was it for both of them....guess they didn't have the stomach for it. Used to own a 540i so I know what it can do....no M5 here but a great machine.....and as far as the IS- just a fancy rice burner that wants to be German......

Hey, they both rolled the dice and lost........shouldn't play w/ a C55 while it's cruising.........

195 is used as the training ground for new troopers doing traffic patrols. Probably one of the worst places to gun it.

By the way, how would a 540 stack up against an E430? I'm guessing I'd get spanked?

I saw a beautiful black 540 yesterday. The windows were completely blacked out, which added to the overall look quite a bit. But that is illegal in NJ (you cannot tint the front side windows), wonder how he gets away with it.

probably got one of those big gold suction-cupped shields in the car. You know the ones you get if you or your spouse is an officer......

Those things ( gold suction-cup shields ) don't mean squat to the Trooper, as useless as a PBA card..As far as the tint goes , most people put the windows down and go to a private gas station and pay for the inspection service.

That never occured to me. But they'd still get pulled over and ticketed at random though.

My cousin gave me a different sort of card that he says is valuable. It's a triangle with his name on it (he is a trooper)

Tell him to step up to the plate and get you the one I got - Gold Card for Family Members ! Did he at least give you a Triangle for the back window ?

I don't mean to be an asswipe but maybe don't put so much info about where you live "out there"! Maybe edit your post and PM the other member/. A lot of wackjobs criuse the web and you can never be too careful.

Good story too of course!
