to me rice is only a figure of speech and not only to jap. cars. you could easily have a rice anything. (rice = fart pipes, unpainted body kits, loud speakers, and stickers)
the reason everyone gets fart cans tryin to race them because those are one of the first performance upgardes thats easy to get (along with the intakes) its not like they think they'll smoke you, they just want to see if they gotten faster, and if you were to tell a race story its always better to lose to an highend car than let say....dont kill me but muscle cars, i'm sorry them thing arnt goood for **** but in a stright line...anyways thats my 2 cent.

What the point of making a car a little faster by making it look and sound like ****? I wouldn't want 20 extra HP if the exhaust made my car sound like crap. And isn't a GSXR-1100 a motorcycle?

The problems with kids or... "ricers" these days is that they go mow a few lawns and buy a rice bomb off eBay for 10.99 that does nothing for their car except make it sound like a POS.... Then they go mow a few more lawns and buy graphics that peel of their car. I guess in a sense you could call it "The Circle of Rice"… Sad.

Do fart cans actually increase HP? I didnt know that.
I remember my first car <cue angelic music>, a 1977 Firebird that I bought in 1985 with my paperboy savings. One of my mods was actually just flipping the air-cleaner cover upside down, so that there was a half-inch gap around the circle of the housing, letting the air go straight down into the carb instead of through the air filter. When you revved that 305 V-8, it sounded interesting. I hope the next owner didn't mind the complete rebuild that must have ensued.

flipping the air cleaner cover without any other mods allowed the filter to get dirty all the way around but psyhologically it made the car run faster.I remember putting headers on my car without mufflers and every cop in town was looking for me to get me off the street,I guess today that is no longer an issue for cops.Today these 5 speed lawn mowers can belch smoke out the tail pipe make all the noise either from the coffee cans or their monster stereos but the cops are no longer interested-maybe afraid, that's because these guys carry more fire power than the cops or they have nothing to lose when they run from cops and crash ,killing others .

I have owned 2 Nissan Skyline GTR`s, these were as quick as 911`s around a track and in a drag race.
An SL wouldnt see which way it went especially in the wet.
Has the best steering wheel feel of any car ive driven (I worked on the SLR and driven most of its competitors).
Some 'rice cars' are ok
BTW I love my C32.
