What's With All the Dweebs in the HONDA's

What's with all the Dweebs in these modified Honda's. It seems I attract them all to my car. They always want to race. Most seem to have these exhaust pipes that sound like weed eaters.

Today, this kid was squeeling his tires next to me at a red light. When the light turned green he punched it and I decided to oblige him, and just annihilated him. I stopped at 80mph which didn't take long, and as usual dweeb then went soaring by me.

They seem to have all the gadets, gauges on the pillars, goofy exhausts, all kinds of trims on the exterior, but most seem to be lacking real power.

The sound of this engine in the SL600 is sweet to the ears.

We share the same misfortune... except I attract their friends in the Toyota Celicas and Camrys.

Jesus ... I get every "rice-burning" ... modified ... POS ... with an exhaust that's bigger around than the car itself ... wanting to "pass" me ... and a weedeater ... I never made the connection ... but it's true ... the lawn crew was in my subdivision today ... and those cars do sound like weed-wackers ... only the weed-wackers sound like they've got more ***** than some of the hondas and mitusubishi's I've seen/heard tried to race me ...

Every time I see a "stupified-exhaust" modified ... honda/mitsu/toyo from now on ... I'll be looking for the lawn-mower-bag attachment ...

As to racing ... these cars aren't worth the gas and rubber I'd waste on'em ... sad thing is ... my lack of attention feeds their ego that I'm actually submitting to their POS ...

Let's not be so quick to judge...

This seems acceptable to me. Albeit, its not the fastest, or the best looking, but it looks clean, body is nice, sounds cool, and gets you from point a to point be rather quickly... and with some tasteful modding to that RX-7, you can get a great aero kit, a supercharger or something, and it would be an awesome vehicle...the ones I do hate, are these...

^^ This one appropriately named "DRAGON"... That, is crap, I agree, but there is nothign wrong with a tastefully modded vehicle, such as an RX-7, in my opinion.

I agree w/ lexani...

An RX-7 or Supra, 2000GT (maybe), can be really nice when properly modified..

Civics, accords, camrys w/e! are economy cars turned into rice rockets..

Mitsu EVO's and modified IS300's can be pretty quick. Yes they look ricey, but they are formidable race opponents. Turboed IS300's with that Supra motor can easily put 600hp to the wheels.....

Even these 'Honda dweebs' can do the same. There's a Civic that comes out to local meets with a built engine pushing 550 rwhp, except for some flashy paint and nice wheels, you'd never know and sadly would eat the SL600 for breakfast.

As for why do the dweebs do this? If you've ever spent the time and effort to do your own work you'd be out seeing what your hard work can do vs someone who just buys it.

To Each their Own

To each their own, personally most of them look and sound ridiculous, and they are still tin cans.

when I had a 540i I got eaten by on of those 2000GT's I didn't even stand a chance. It was not a strait line we were on the highway and he punked me. It didn't really make noise either. If you run into one of those and the driver is good you'll get a good run.

In my area, the curious trend is to bolt on ridiculous body kits to the civics, but unpainted. So you have these red cars with the yellow front air dams or off-white side skirts that look like complete shiite.

I don't know if they do this intentionally, thinking it looks good, or that they can't afford the paintjob on the mods, so they bolt on the parts before saving up some more money.
Has anyone else noticed this?

In other news...

Not a kill, really, but I surprised to have a Mini Cooper driven by a teenage girl try to race me from a stoplight. She was reving and looking over, so we went. I dont normally attract any attention, given I drive a plain old e430, but what the hell. The Mini was quick, but it lost.

It had better-- darn, for 550 horsies and lighter than an SL600, I'd expect it to do so, infact, it would be shameful for it not to. It's modded, SL600 is stock-- I'd want to see how he would fair against Vic55. Mod vs. Mod, should be intresting-- on a different note, I'm willing to bet a RennTech SL600 can destroy a Stock Civic Si.

True. That's something most people overlook-- time and money is invested in these "tin cans", "beauty, is in the eye of the beholder."

I downgraded to a VW, it's still German though
I feel for this thread. I don't know why they would mess with MB's. I come from the Mustang GT club, and I can't stand ricers. You think they plague MB drivers?! There are some respectable Japanese machines, but a Civic? Or Neon SRT-4? Get a Mustang, and after all the bugging in one week, you will be ready to beat down those ricers!

Gotta love the tone of the thread...

Oh they are so not worthy, blah blah blah, where Benz owners do exactly the same against faster vehicles. Hell, if you don't like to be 'challenged' by just about anything, just buy a Camry.

That is very true. I try and keep a low profile on the road. It seems to me that ricers try to start stuff more often than others. I don't get involved because of the cops get either one of you, its over. The street racing law in Texas, and Austin's city laws, is as severe as DUI. You lose your license, car, and go to jail. I moved here to Washington and have not even seen any tricked out Japanese stuff. I guess to each his own, just don't pull along side of me and unleash a lot of foul fart sounding noise from your 10 pound Folgers can bolted on the exhaust, thinking you are in the movie Fast and Furious. .

(first time posting ) and I couldnt agree more. I usually express a low profile on the road but if some idiot in a POS honda civic or VW moded jetta pulls up and cuts me off, then I get a little upset. I only drive a 99 C230 K stock but I am one hell of a driver; Ive beaten Mustangs, Moded VWs, BMW 330's, g35's, ive even kept up with a 911. I honestly believe it has more to do with the driver behind the wheel and not the engine. esp on the interstate. Going head to toe on a straight away id probably lose most of them. Oh and ive seen civics destroy vettes, i have also seen a ford lightening crush a WRX. pretty amazing what mods u can add to a car.

Just minutes ago one of those was revving his engine at me (I drive an S4), I just don't care but, to me it is absolutely no different from the numerous german car owners who just dumped a fat checked into their trophymobile, can't even shift a manual and think they can drive and smoke just about anything. It's the people who have more ego than brains that are fun to deal with, and in my experience they equally buy Japanese/Domestic/German cars.

Manual

I personally can drive a manual transmission, but I like having this car do it optimally for me.

in comparison with the newer models it is definately a better car. Sorry not all of us can afford a brand new M6 but for the money the c230K is a great car.
