W211 E55 Beats Up Newer NSX

No big deal here. Just a nice, shiney, newer (with the fixed headlamps) NSX and a E55 having some fun. 40-120 MPH punch. NSX got the jump big time. E55 punched it late, reeled it in slowly and passed it with growing authority. It was closer than I would've guessed and the NSX guy was cool.

Hahaha. True, for "Point and Shoot" racing, the E55's an animal!

That's more than true for most of the AMGs

But on a serious note, there is a boosted NSX running around West Palm and South Florida that I have seen on numerous occasions. I think it runs low 11s and puts down 700+ RWHP

And past it. Cause the first corner was a 90 degree turn about a mile ahead. So, he'd been about 3 buslengths back at that point.

Low 11s and 700 HP at 3200 lbs is kinda pathetic. Then again its turbocharged, so there is probably massive turbo lag. I would like to know what this beast traps at.

what can i say, i'm guilty of being a canyon *****.
i like mullholland drive, between 101&405
back in the day there were no cops there and i used to fly around in my m3 like it was my personal race track.
i also like mulholland highway and angeles crest
i had a huge "moment" on a c highway. got mu m3 sideways on trailing throttle at around 70mph, i saw my life flash b4 my eyes. awesome.
in case ur wondering, i managed to save it somehow (i think with a little help from above)
my friend and i didnt say a word to each other for like 10min after :p

Dude... STFU.

Andrew, you too you idiot.

Why is it, everytime an AMG wins a race, some idiot in the crowd jumps to:

"Until the corner"

or...

"Yeah, but the GTRSXY TYPE R NSX 5-ZIGEN TTRS would kill it!"

Get a ****ing grip on reality. You people are idiots-- bottom line.

Oh, and food for thought: The E55 ran 1 second behind a Ferrari around (?) Stockholm, or however you spell it. And... a Ferrari, for those who dont know, can turn pretty good.

John... Have you ever driven a NSX? Those things are go-carts with a V6. The handling in them are amazing... and when compared to a AMG it's going $#%^#$^ in them in the corners.

Yeah, a Ferrari 355. Brand new technology

i drove a 91 model about 5 or 6 years ago, it was slightly moded
th car is amazing, there is so little momentum, u can flick nit left right at insane speeds. its also very fast, not e55 fast, but fast. the engine is very sweet and loves to be reved to redline
and it very progressive when it lets go

Yeah, right... maybe you need to look up track times for AMGs.

Coming from someone who loves mercedes?

AMG's hold their own at a track...

especially for a four door, but they cannont keep up with many sports cars. They certainly have the power, but they carry way too much weight.

A C55 lapped Hockenheim in 1 min 19 sec and Nurburgring in 8 min 22 sec.

For comparison, a Ferrari 360 had times of 1 min 15 sec and 8 min 9 sec. That is a big difference.

An Acura NSX-R (they did not test the regular NSX) was a little bit faster than the Ferrari.

That being said, the AMG accomplishes its goals very well - it is a luxury four door that can hold its own on a track and is even better in a straight line. Nothing wrong with that.

Well, these are street cars. Its very cool to see how they compare on certain tracks when put into a race car role but in reality its how things go on the particular stretch of open public road that really matter. Had we been in a twisty section of mountain road it would have been my superior skills that made the AMG come out on top ( ). But in this case it was machine vs. machine in a straight, roll-on race and the big, bloated, overweight sedan pulled the sportscar.

Perhaps him, but you're going to need to give some serious thought stepping up to the plate when I'm there. :v
