had fun with an M3 tonight
... OK I keep on traveling down the road with him behind me. Came up to another light and the M3 was behind me, I was first in the lane so I took off (again) pretty fast to see if he was game. Well thid time he was right on my bumper, so I floored it and started walking away..... I slowed down and he came up in the lane next to me. As soon as he was about to the side door (going about 40) I floored it again and walked away from him again, took it up to about 100 and he was about 4-5 lenghts behind.... Next light was my turn and took my exit, the M3 was still back behind so I didnt get to give him the "thumbs up"
My wife slayed one of those in the Bentley!!!!
The M3 is simply not a match for any car that runs in the 12s, let alone mid 12s like yours

As for a Bentley beating one its a drivers race, they both trap the same speed in the 1/4 mile and both run 13's.

From a roll I was tailing him and when I nailed it at about 50, I'm guessing he nailed it in 3rd since he accelerated but was still falling behind.
At the light he kept looking over trying to read the "ROADMASTER" script on the door. He probably never knew what it was. A classic case of more car than driver.

So, to be fair, let's assume 'average' drivers here. Assuming that, you doubt that a modded C32 will pull 4-5 carlengths on a stock M3 from 40-100 MPH????? Got some money that you'd like to lose? His results are completely consistent with what I have experienced with my modded C32 against E46 coupes. Why are you such a doubter? Why is it hard for you to believe that a car with at least a 1/2 second and 4 mph advantage in the 1/4 mile would pull 4-5 car lengths on a car that, with an average driver, runs mid 13s.
Stock-to-stock, the C32 vs. M3 race is a crapshoot. The usual outcome of a modded C32 vs. stock E46 is right in the ballpark of what the threadstarter experienced.
If you still doubt, put some money on the table.
very, very, very, very low percentage of drivers can acheive those times.
Most M3's run 13.2 to 13.6.. just about the same for the c32...
now add 50+ and 70lbs of torque with a simple $3 to 4k investment of pulley and chip.. and you have yourself an M3 killer with no big exhaust or wing, or fancy wheels or huge front facia or huge rocker panels. a nice daily commuter that can run high 12's all day long (see level alt and good weather)
Granted there are alot of mods for the M3 like (AA, ACS, H, Dinan) but get ready to dish out some serious $$ coin just to add 50hp (without using the S/C or kompressor).
point being.. M3's is a fast car and great handling car... but hard to mod to keep up with the ever increasing horsepower race..
side note:
I just read another test of the IS350 from MT. 5.3 and 13.9 1/4... thats close or beats the times of M3, c55,C32, 545, M45, 350z, S2000, GS430, G35. Good thing a new M is about to arrive and hopefully a new AMG class to further the distance from ordinary to extra ordinary.
I'm seriously thinking jumping to the E55 now or going to EVO and spending the money.
) why cant you believe I beat an M3 with my mods? I have no idea how good of a driver he was, maybe he didnt know how to drive hs car, maybe he did. All I know is I let up @ 100mph and he was a good 4-5 cars back.... oh, there is almost ALWAYS a doubter when ever there is a good race

No friggin' way. That car is a mid-13 car, *maybe* low 13 at best. A close look at the infamous "stock" video of Lee Rutter running in the 12's shows that the car was modded: the front seat was clearly missing, meaning that the rears were certainly gone as well, along with the spare, and anything else he could strip out; also, the wheels were non-stock, and therefore the tires were doubtlessly non-stock, and likely drag radials from the length of his burnout....Last edited by Improviz; Dec 18, 2005 at 02:34 AM.
Stock for stock this cars are so close that the driver will decide.
A modded C32 that trap 110 mph should be capable of walking away from a stock M3, so I cant see anything wrong with this story,4-5 lenghts sounds like a bit to much but not impossible.
Maybe the US owners are different than the Euro guys.
Gee, then I guess that, coincidentally, the E46 that I left several carlengths behind must've had the exact same brand of tard pilot.
On the one hand, you state that there are a platoon of stock M3 drivers "easily" breaking into the twelves. On the other hand, when one gets stomped, you assume that the M3 driver must be a moron. See any contradiction here???
In the words of Rod Tidwell, "SHOW ME THE MONEY!"
So that means that in your opinion the C32/C55 aint fast either.
Just curious, what kind of car would you describe as fast ?

he would be able to run in 12's with a completely stock m3.
