You think 186mph is fast?

Gents, plan your next vacation to Germany and spend some time on the Autobahn! You'll soon realize that 186mph (299km) is not very fast! There are many cars of different makes and models that run over 300km! Most of the Modified cars are modified via displacement increase with some sort of force induction (Turbo or Blowers). A golf buddy of mine has a BMW M5 with a Modified V10 that claims top speeds of 337km (210mph). Another friend of mine has a Modified Audi TT claiming 306km (190mph). Another, VW VR6 Modified, claiming 300km (186mph). I list these cars because many of them are 4 or 6 cylinder cars. Imagine what the Modified V8s and V12s are doing!

I have over $45000 worth of modifications to my car and it doesn't bother me one bit getting past on the Autobahn, I simply move out the left lane and let them go by. People over here spends ridiculous amount of money tuning their cars, and yet everyone gets past sooner or later. But, it's fun and I love it! Where else can you hold the pedal to the floor for more than an hour of driving! Over here it’s all about the top speed!

P.S. Because the car is listed as an E350 doesn't necessarily means it has a 3.5L V6! The entire power train is different! Won't say much more, I have customs issues to workout since the car has not yet been imported into the U.S.

What kind of tires are you guys running over there? I can't recall the max speed rating of Z-rated tires, but I'd be afraid they's shred to bits with the heat those speeds will generate.

Let me rephrase this:

For an E350, yes. If your clocking 186-- wtf are the E55s in? 300s?

Look, I think you over exaggerated a little bit with the A8 "whiz-by". You made it sound like he was going in 300s, when really he might've been doing only 190... let me tell you, I don't care how modded you are, 186 for an E350, is a bit ridiculous.

Pictures, maybe?

The A8 didn't whiz-by, but he pased me and kept going to the point where I could no longer see him. The car had no badges on the trunk which is a pretty good indication it was tuned. The German TUV (Certification) requires the tuning company to remove the badge if the car modification results in increase hp and torque. I heard the A8 displacement increase to 4.7 with 510hp runs at 325km (201mph).

The E55, with the V-MAx Unit (Removing the speed limiter) runs at 310km (192mph). With the Brabus K8 MOD, power increase to 530hp and top speed is at 330km (205mph). The Brabus tuned SL600, 570hp Tops out at 340km (211mph). Your Stock SL600 should run 192mph with V-Max Unit.

Side note: there is nothing stock in my E350 power train (Eng, Tranny, Diff).

Stock BMW M3, 333hp, ungoverned tops out at 175mph

I know people who stock ran 197MPH (AND GOING!) in an E55. No v-max. (wtf is that anyways)?

E55 has a limiter at 155 mph,Renntech,Kleemann and others can remove it but they can't touch the secondary limiter which kicks in at 186mph.
A speedo showing 197 or more is just a poorly calibrated instrument, not showing any real speed, just a wishful thinking.

The V-Max unit looks similar to this D6 Unit for the Diesel cars. It by-passes all speed limiters without breaking into the software. All Brabus cars uses them, to include the EV12 that was officially tested for the World Record at 350.2km (217mph) in a street legal 4-door sedan. http://www.maybach.ru/frankfurt/brab..._en.php?ind=30

Wow! You speak with such certainty! It's as if you're saying all these brilliant engineers doing performance tuning have no clue. My friend, I respectfully disagree with your summation. The many years I've spent in Germany since 1980, I've seen cars broke the 250km mark, the 300km mark and now the 350km mark, all tested and certified by the German TUV. The German TUV, by the way, is the toughest certification process Auto-Tuners must adhere to. Performance Tuners can't claim hp and sell it to the Germans as such. It must be tested by the German TUV under their conditions and by their testers. Once a dealer is TUV certified there are random test perform on selected products with no notice. If the product fails there is a huge fine and the company can loose their TUV certification, which means they cannot sell any of their products in Germany. Read this link, http://www.exelerocar.com/project.html that shows how the TUV folks controlled the Maybach Coupe testing. They determine when and how the test was conducted, and they used their testers.

All the Mercedes tuners over here have work-around for the speed-limiters, and I speak from experience when I say many cars now exceeds the 300km mark, tested and certified by the TUV.

The Autobahn is an exciting place to hangout!!
