S500 schools BMW745I

I by chance hooked up with a 2004 745I late one night on a quiet 6 lane highway. I pulled up to a light just before a 5 mile long section with no traffic. To my right rolls up a nice detailed white 745I. The guy lunged against the brakes a couple of times and gave me the nod. I put the tranny in "S", set the suspension on sport and slightly loaded the brakes. As the light turned I let it all go.I jumped him 2 cars and held untill the 7 speed made the 2/3 shift. Two cars became four lengths. He held me until about 110 and 5/6 shift made it 6. He started to pull up some at 120 but couldn't maintain it. I knew the limiter was coming at 130 so just past 125 I started lifting as did the BMW. We slowed to legal (still no cars or radar) and we both pulled into a late night gas station. He was a cool guy..car was 2004 BMW 745I. This is about as even as it gets. We agreed that the 7 speed was a factor...plus the Merc launched harder we thought. We shook hands and two fifty something guys went home to dream of younger days and of mini skirts and 454 Chevelles, GTO's...I savored the victory.

Yeah, the S-Class is faster than the 7series, especially with that 7speed. Nice classy kill as someone else said.

Nice one. Glad to see 7-Series drivers act their age out there, not like here in Orange County, So Cal.

Nice kill, and nice attitude for the BMW driver. Most people here are sore losers

You may want to recheck your tranny gear vs. mph. If I remember correctly the Mercedes gets to 130 in 4th gear.

Roupin,

I have a neighbor with a Roadmaster wagon that I am trying to talk him out of...he won't budge...I'm sweatin' him to put a 502 crate motor on that bad boy. I told him I would help him out...we could really have some fun with the ricers over at Moroso

the 5.0 L torque curve is far better than the 4.4L.. good race!

Just in case you run into a 750i, let us know the outcome as well..

You'll be surprised how tuneable the Roadmaster's LT1 is. If the wagon is a 94-96, then it has an LT1 from the factory. The 502 only holds a novelty factor over the LT1, and costs a good bit to get working properly in these cars for technical reasons. It has been done though. Most people don't expect it, but it hauls considering its size and image (the image is probably the reason I still have a license ).

There are tons of mods available for these cars for next to nothing. Underneath it's really an Impala SS, so the aftermarket has been kind to us

Let me know if you get any progress from your neighbor.

Wow, I'm impressed, especially when the 745 makes higher output numbers.
