C55 Takes Down a SRT8 Charger

To day on the way home (from the courthouse, Paying a speeding ticket 1st in 15 years) a brand new Dodge Charger SRT8 pulls up next to me at a red light. I’m thinking that is one nice sounding car. The light turns green and he launches the car, I take off part throttle. At the next light I’m ready, preload to 1100 rpm the light turns green and the race is on. My car for some reason actually hooked up ok and I get out about ¾ car Length on the launch and continues to pull ever so slightly, But I’m pulling away. When we let off due to traffic I had him by one and a half lengths. This surprised me I thought with 425hp I did not have much of a chance.

He stayed about 3 cars back even with no traffic in front of him for about 3 miles (maybe thinking something was wrong with his new car being by a Mercedes.) after a few traffic lights he got up beside my C55 as I was slowing down to turn and gave me a big thumbs up… and he then put it to the floor. That SRT8 Charger sure has a sweet exhaust note.

It felt nice to race a muscle car instead of RICE.

LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE! :liar: :liar: :liar: J/K lol!
Between these cars I think it's a drivers race due to weight differences of the cars and traction control on the mB.

You are right. Have you ever driven a SRT8 Charger? I was going to buy one.
If you think the traction control on the mercedes is bad, the chargers traction control is worse. Chrysler sould have had the guys at AMG program it for them. they do use alot of MB's parts on the charger so why not have AMG program the ESP.

Nice Kill

Nice kill however I also own a Chrysler 300c Srt8 and have beaten a C55 Amg consistently from a 60 roll off the line 15 mph roll have won every time... However off the line is a problem in cold weather for these cars if you do not heat the tires properly and run 25ibs of pressure you WILL be seeing C55 tail lights all day long... there is a video floating around of a 350Z beating a Srt8 300 both stock due to traction loss in the SRT and the secound race when the SRT hooked up this time you couldnt count the car legnths because he was too far away...

Anyways its not how fast your car is its how fast you can drive your car great Kill!

Great Kill!! I wonder how it would be on the top? Those Chargers might need more power to push that blunt front end than the AMG cars do.

Ain't that the truth. Too many wanna be ricers out there...the spoilered 'stang guys are not too far behind. I'd love to see a '67 Fastback, or a Camaro SS, or even a 442 Olds on the road. Too bad they're so rare.

I would love to see classic muscle on the road. The only problem with seeing a 442 Olds, Z/28 Camaro, 427 Vette or anything like those driving around is that they must be beaters or have one crazy owner driving them because those bring HUGE money when they are done up right at Barrett-Jackson and the like.

Interestingly enough, a lot of the Charger SRT8s and 300C SRT8s are putting down crazy dyno numbers. One down here in FL just put down 420+ to the rear wheels, another put down 414 the other day. Those engines are underrated like a ****. My friend, who is a shop technician, says that those cars are incredibly respectable performance wise, its just that TC and aerodynamics that aren't that incredible IMO.

it is too bad that all that torque is killed by a ESP program. it should be a drivers race but the torque is killed by the esp progarm. I would own one of these cars except for the esp program and the plastic interior. Too bad

I do own a version of calssic mucile. a 91 XJR-s with a big block chevy roller motor with 250hp nos with 875hp at the rear wheels. the mph says the car runs 10's the et's and 60fts says 11:49 @133 tell me that car cannot hook.
4k on the scales 1/2 tank no driver.

Nice kill... But watchout of the ones that are blown! One of the guys in our Corvette Club has a Paxton on his wife's 300C SRT8, he brought it to our last meet and claims 560HP....Hemi power has nice potential!

nice.... kill...

it would be interested to see the results on the highway..

SRT8 trap speed and ETA are even with a C55.

I have yet to run with one. Hopefully my pullies can make up the difference in HP and Torque. Stock, I don't think the C32 has enough torque to keep up.
