Arrow CLK500 vs 645i

Well let me start out by saying that this was an all stock race between both of us, or so i think...
It was after work, when me and my friend were cruisin back home, and on the way when we stopped at a red light, i noticed a 645i pull up next to us with only the driver. I have always wanted to race with one ever since i got my clk. well this was the day... at first i didn't know if the guy was gona race me or not... so i turned off my dsc just in case and the light hit green, at first about a second or so we both took off slowly as if we weren't racing, bu then out of no where this guy punches it and i hear the roaring of this car, and he starts to pull away once i hit mine, i was like oh hell no WTF was that.... so he got a car and a half on me when i punched the pedal... and i slowly started to get onto him at about 80 he was about 1/5 car lenght ahead of me as we approached a red light ahead. if we didn't stop im sure the race would end up with me more than a car lenght ahead.
i was pissed that he started out without a warning, im pretty sure i would have had him!

Good one~ sometimes its hard to give warnings, ya just know when its ON.

CLK500 AMG is cool with me, thoes 3 letters says ALL. its a cool screen name as long as there's no badge on the car.

i see that was your first post. welcome aboard~

A Few
seriously guys....

"it's not DSC it ESP..." leave the guy alone...

and FYI, ALL CLK500 Coupes or Cabs are AMG'd all the way except for the engine, suspension, and brakes... Therefore, all CLK500's are CLK500 AMG's...

a year ago or so.. they tested the CLK500 7sp vs the 645i...

there were really close to each other in terms of speed and acceleration.

it would come down to the reaction time.

like in this case, the MB driver was on the defensive.

by the way.. I can't wait to see the performance on the new CLK550... it would be mid/high 4's for sure! maybe hit high 12's

let's see:

CLK55 hit high 4's and low 13's with only 5spd

CLK550 more hp and torque and 7spd...

my C32 is starting to look like a Civic in terms of performance.

The 650 has a 58 hp advantage over the CLK500. The torque (which is what really counts from standstill) on the 650 is 21 ft/lbs greater than the CLK. It would be safe to say the 650 would take the lead. However, the CLK550 will surpass the 650 by 22 hp and 31 ft/lbs of torque. This would give it the advantage in a race from standstill. The 550 will be the faster down-the-line car, but the 650 will be the better handler.

my buddy has a 650ci cab.....It seems pretty damn fast while driving in it. Its a cool ride, but just not worth the dough IMO compared to the hardtop convertible SL, unless you have to have a 4 seat conv......if the 4 seats are for kids or women I would go Porsche over the Beemer.

Just a note, the OP was refering to the 645 not the 650. Different engine.
