Murdered a 750i and CLS in the R230
My buddy just got a BMW 750i and was raving how it was so fast.....long story short, I killed him by so many car lengths that I actually eased off and rolled down the window to ask him why he wasn't racing. Later he told me he was suprised how bad the SL had beaten him...must have been the 7 speed trans. Anyway the 7 probably weighs 100's and 100's of pounds more but it was fun either way.....I may have to trade in for a 65 so I can take on the masses ![devil](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/devil.gif)
Later my other buddy in a CLS 500 wanted some....he had a bad start so he says and didnt turn off the traction...so it again wasnt too fair....we went up to about 110 and I was pretty far ahead the whole way....he also has some really crappy one piece replica rims that weigh a ton.

Quick, send your SL to Colorado and let the K-crew put something really special under your hood. By the way, where is the race? I noticed you're in LA. I might be interested in destroying that chump with my M5.

We were racing at red lights on PCH near all the Beach Cities...
Man it would be fun to take the M5 logo off and bet some dough on the battle!

Anyone ever done a dyno on the venerable merc 5.0L V8? Just curious if Merc is underrating them....

An SL500 might have the same engine, but (as you know) not all R230's are SL500's.

All manufacturers use some sort of internal designation or another. Similarly, the previous-generation BMW 5-series was the E39 (new one is the E60), I believe.
