Murdered a 750i and CLS in the R230

My buddy just got a BMW 750i and was raving how it was so fast.....long story short, I killed him by so many car lengths that I actually eased off and rolled down the window to ask him why he wasn't racing. Later he told me he was suprised how bad the SL had beaten him...must have been the 7 speed trans. Anyway the 7 probably weighs 100's and 100's of pounds more but it was fun either way.....I may have to trade in for a 65 so I can take on the masses

Later my other buddy in a CLS 500 wanted some....he had a bad start so he says and didnt turn off the traction...so it again wasnt too fair....we went up to about 110 and I was pretty far ahead the whole way....he also has some really crappy one piece replica rims that weigh a ton.

Quick, send your SL to Colorado and let the K-crew put something really special under your hood. By the way, where is the race? I noticed you're in LA. I might be interested in destroying that chump with my M5.

We were racing at red lights on PCH near all the Beach Cities...

Man it would be fun to take the M5 logo off and bet some dough on the battle!

It has been debadged. I am waiting for the Dinan ECU to come in my buddy's BMW shop. I need find a way to make it look like a sleeper..

Actually, it already is a sleeper...not a huge differentiation from a 550...why would you want it to be an even bigger sleeper?

The engine and tranny is actually the same as the CLS500, a 5.0L V8 with 302hp and 339 ft/lb of tq. I'm surprised that you wasted the CLS...

Anyone ever done a dyno on the venerable merc 5.0L V8? Just curious if Merc is underrating them....

CLS500 probably weighs a ton more (not literally a ton, but you get my drift). The original post also says he had rather heavy wheels, adding to the weight disadvantage.

An SL500 might have the same engine, but (as you know) not all R230's are SL500's.

It is typically an internal designation and refers to the model and/or its platform. For example, The current SL is the R230 and the previous one is the R129, regardless of year or engine. The 1996-2002 E-class is the W210, regardless of whether they are E220, E320, E430, etc.

All manufacturers use some sort of internal designation or another. Similarly, the previous-generation BMW 5-series was the E39 (new one is the E60), I believe.

Oic. It's basically a chassis code based on the way the body looks, exactly like BMW. Maybe it's a German thing. I never hear this kind of thing with American brands.
