3 more great runs DB9 Vert,E55 & GT500

Well, of course these runs were on a closed course! But for the sake of the story they took place over the weekend while i was on my way back from Coronado to LA on the 5!

DB9 Vert
I see her smiling at me in my rear view mirror as she weaves through traffic behind me. Im doing 85 or so...but she is gaining...im think yes, the way they are driving they will go! As they pull up next me, i notice an attractive young blound is driving, with a gentleman much older than her in the pasenger....brand new paper plates from BH Aston! Due to the traffic, we had numerous abreviated runs, but from 80-110, 85-130, and 80-100 runs, I would pull easily anywhere from 1-2.5 car lengths!! This went on for about 30 minutes!!! FUN!!!

E55
I hit open road and am cruising at 80...coming up on an E55...i cruise by slowly and he speeds up....we both hit it from 80-110 and then he shuts it down and wont go again...what happened? hard to tell in that short time, but we were dead even. I think i may have gotten a slight jump on him by .5 sec or so that allowed me to stay dead even from 80-110...either way, it was fun

No i know these things are supposed to have 450hp or somthing..and this wasn't a drag, but rather a spirited run from PCH to the valley on topanga cyn...in the straights he could not pull on me
(im sure in a drag he would walk!!!) and in the corners i was all over him...this was the most fun run of the day due to the ability to chase him through the twisties and stick to him like glue!!!


onlyh 1 kill(DB9) but fun runs all around...Good Day altogether!!!

Don't know about stock, I didn't race any e55's back then. But didn't have a problem after renntech. Wasn't even close ... pulled away steadily up to 110. Was a stock E55 because I know the owner.
Now before I hear any *****ing ... was it a fair race? no. I'm modified ... he isn't.

ummm...no

As i said it was a short race and i got a 1/2 a sec jump...poitn of the story was jsut to point out a fun drive and not to put down anyones cars...the results ar accurate...i was also at 4500rpm in the perfect gear so no downshift....not sure if he did the same...if not the fact that i remained steady with the e55 puts it down to his fault as athe driver for not being ready...

nice runs
i ran a cls 55 from 80-140 and he only pulled about 1/4-1/2 a length and then a turn came up and he shut it down and i kept going, i didnt post cause i couldnt even believe it

I had a brief couple of runs with an E55K on the highway and one from a dig with my modded C32 and we were basically dead even. None of the runs lasted long enough to really tell what the final outcome would be. I suspect that I would get slowly pulled eventually.

The reality is that the poster's modded SLK is a mid-12-second car, and so are many stock E55s. For those doubters, here is a tidbit of info for you: Not all stock E55Ks run into the elevens! In fact, many run mid or even high twelves (or, god forbid, even some thirteens ) with trap speeds of 112 or 113. Why is it hard to believe that a modded SLK55, which, I would guess, could run a 12.5/112 with a good driver, could keep up with another car which, very likely, has the same performance figures?

SIKE!!!!!!!!!!

No offense, but an E55 would DESTROY a puny little SLK55. '03 and up ofcourse.

I've seen a video of a LS2 stock Goat kill an SLK55, to say you were even with the E55, which by the way has near 100HP over you is ridiculous! It can be likend too saying a 200HP Audi A4 can keep up with a 300HP STi.



LOL, I know what's happening, the E, CLS, CL, SL, S AMG class drivers toy with the likes of you CLK, SLK, C etc. classes-- end of story.

No offense of course, afterall my vehicle barely beats Vespas-- on good days.

BTW: As far as the GT500 goes, you should be on his **** even on a straight away-- his times are horrible according to recent magazines, but of course, those are magazines, I have yet to see them run.

Read again...i was in the perfect gear, it and is was a short sprint which i got a .5 sec jump...so yes, staying even with an E55 is not only plausible, but it happned...and please everyone, quit getting bent out of shape, i never said i killed the E55, the only kill was the DB9. The other 2 were just plain fun runs! A

lso, I found out it wasn't a GT500 but a Gt with a supercharger, headers, intake, etc...it is definitly the real deal but not sure how much hp...point want about the straight line, but having fun playing in the canyons.

But you're right, I don't know ****. Obviously a 355 HP SLK55 AMG can keep up with a 469 HP E55 AMG. I mean duh, whats an extra 100 or so horsepower?

E55 is faster stock to stock ... of course in any race there are a ton of variables.

yes the E55 stock has approx 100hp more than the SLK55. Of course the SLK55 weights considerable less than the E55.
What in your mind ... weight doesn't matter?

No, weight matters no doubt-- but I have been to the tracks before, and never ONCE, did I see an SLK55 break 13s-- not ONCE!. Doesn't mean the SLK can't do it, because I imagine the way you guys are swearing up and down the bible it could, it should. I have seen however, stock E55s break 12s. Dip into high 11s (11.9 to be exact, I've heard rumours but not seen 11.8s). Now, wieght or no weight, I'm sure a fairy didn't pop out of nowhere and push the E55 across the track a second quicker than the SLK.

Wouldn't you say?

HOw many times did you see a SLK55 at the quartermile track? The fact that SLK55 is in the high twelves is a given ... too many people have already proven that.

Do you actually think that everyone that is racing on the street is lined up for a quartermile? Most of those races are short and sweet.

My moms LS430 is plenty quick (compared to some cars) and whenever we light up on a highway I never pass, I always stay a few cars behind because I find that more fun

That's all hypothetical though, I never street race.

You need to read? Here are the published facts for a few cars so you can educate yourself (hint - multiple car mags all pretty much get the same results under controlled conditions, repeated runs, with profesional drivers). This data is augmented by multiple people dragging their cars & getting the SAME numbers. And no offense here, but because you didn't "see it" doesn't mean the rest of the planet is wrong. Maybe pick up a C&D, R&T, Motor Trend, Automobile, EVO, etc?. You can also simply calculate power to weight ratios & account for gearing - its VERY simple.

SLK55s run a 12.7 - 12.8 Quarter & trap 110 - 111 mph. Backed up by Dinko of this very forum (use the search button). It was his 1st time ever at the track in hot/humid Florida on Street Tires: http://www.dragtimes.com/Mercedes-Be...slip-5170.html

LS2 GTO: modified, 432 RWHP (Heads, Cams, Headers, Midpipe, and Drag Radials). 12.81 at 113 mph , http://www.dragtimes.com/Pontiac-GTO-Timeslip-8552.html

An SLK55 runs heads up with MN6 C6 Vettes in the Quarter. The GTO is heavier so its just slower. Its simple math. Does anyone ever do any research before posting? Geezus.
