Porsche C4S

*disclaimer - all high speed information in this post is a work of fiction ... driving over the speed limit is illegal*

Okay now that is over with ...

New Porsche C4S ... multiple highway runs ...

I first see this grey (seal grey?) Porsche come zooming onto the highway at a high rate of speed. I accelerate a little to see what it is. The driver (guy looks like Venture money) looks about mid 30s wearing dark sunglasses. I look at the speedo and its about 95mph as I"m pacing him. I pull up to the right of him and he punches it. I jump on the accel and easily catch him and go flying past. I slow down to about 80 waiting for him to catch up. He matches me at 80 and paces me for about 30 secs. He then pulls up to the left of me and mashes the throttle. As he passes me ... I mash the throttle again and easily catch and pass him. As I"m passing him I"m waving my left hand goodbye. (top is down btw) Again I slow down now to 70 mph. He catches up and paces me again and this time I move to the left ... he goes for it and I just spank him really easily. I slow down again and wait for him to get beside me ... the guy won't even look over. At this point we both just drive around 70 and end up getting off at the same exit.

Nice and fun ... I know not to bother even playing with a 997 unless its a GT3, GT2, or turbo now. It wasn't even close, I was accelerating so fast away from him it wasn't even funny.

Btw I've debadged my car ... so unless he knew it was an AMG from the quad exhaust ... he was probably going WTF.

it was C4 S..

380hp...

therefore stock vs stock, it would be a nice race.

Modded or not: Anytime you go gunning at other cars, you never know what you might end up against.

Nice run. Just don't try to race a C4S on wet roads, that's where the AWD becomes very very useful.

A little off topic, but I was wondering why you chose to go with RennTech for supercharging versus Kleemann? You don't hear about too many RennTech SC cars, but Kleemann is all over on this forum.

why renntech

first let me answer AndrewZ's question ... yes I've run a stock E55 I think it was a 2004 (owned by a associate) high way run quick bursts had no problem out accelerating him to 120. Much closer than the porsche though.
SL65 06 renntech stage 1 ... just had both cars at the dealers getting some fixes ... me for valve body replacement and his was for intercooler pump. Run was from 0-120 - SL65 lost. Was this a slow SL65? shrug no idea.

As to why Renntech over Kleemann ... I don't want to start a vs thread here but here goes.

I personally chose Renntech because, in my research, Renntech seems to have better support and knowledge of the ECU. Since these cars are so dependant on the ECU I thought that was extremely important. Even if Renntech doesn't have the same HP as Kleemann (ex. YellowR1's car) I felt that I didn't want the car running so extreme. This car is my daily driver and I wanted to make sure that it would hold up. I have been amazed at the level of support that Renntech offers it's customers.

3rd reason which was a negative for Kleemann. This is not reflected on Kleemann products but on the tuner that I went to. He was going to be charging me more than Renntech even though I knew exactly how much he was SUPPOSED to charge. Since everyone is aware that Renntech is more expensive than Kleemann ... this gives you an idea of the markup this guy was trying to pass off on me.

Cool. Any reliability issues with the RennTech SC? Not that I've heard any about Kleemann, but the HPS Gen II (Gen I appears to be solid) has been giving people hell.

no reliability issues

Only had it on for 4k miles but no reliability issues. Whats more important is that if I do ... I feel confident that Hartmut/Renntech would take care of it.

Talk about an unfair race.

Would you be posting if that guy had a 9ff engine upgrade to 700hp?

Stock to stock, he would've killed you, assuming he was really good at shifting.

boo hoo

yeah it was unfair ... oh well. He jumped first and obviously wanted to race me. Perhaps he thought mine was stock and that he could *spank*me. (which I honestly think isn't true ... I think a stock to stock would be a pretty fair race)

Was if fair for him to race a car that is "supposedly" slower?
He got his *** handed to him multiple times ... live with it.

and if I got spanked by a porsche ... yes I would post it. Nothing wrong with losing to a faster car.

No, actually stock for stock the 911 would have lost. Both cars have the same power & the same weight. The 911 has more parasitic drive train loss (4WD) & significanly less torque. Torque actually wins races between cars that have the same Hp. It becomes the differentiator, especially as the cars start fighting nature as speed increases. The SLK has more braun to push air out of its way. Its irrelavant in this case though. The guy just wanted to have some fun but bit off more than he could chew. Stock he would have lost. Against a blown SLK55, he got pulled pretty easily. I'm sure he will get over it - its not a big deal. Win some, lose some.

No disrespect Jesse to you man; all I was saying is:

1.) It would've been a closer race if both you guys were stock.
2.) The guy wasn't an idiot and didn't know how to shift.

But overall, nice kill.

chuckle

yeah I guess I jumped a bit hard there ... I haven't had a lot of races since I got the car ... and I guess finally getting another race was REALLY fun for me.

Looks like, after debadging, I'll get more challengers ... of course could have just been good timing.

Regards,

Jesse

Geez, that makes me want to debadge. I never get a challenger. I'm not saying I want to race all the time, but once in a while would be nice. The only challenges I get are from STI's and EVO's which I'm fine with but usually win fairly easily... unless it's heavily modded.

I'd like to get some challenges from comparable cars. You know, the other cars I was considering before purchasing mine. Oh well, I'll get that in a few days at Thunderhill, then Infineon, the Thunderhill again!

Again, reading comprehension might help you (you have a Phd & a Jd)? Jesse has a blown SLK55 (not a CLK55).

You keep mentioning 600Hp at the crank. You should get that 911 of yours on a Dynojet & post your RWHP#.

I thought this forum was for kill stories. It’s smart not to be one of my kill stories featured on this board.

Who cares about a fair race, you don't modify your car so you can wait to come across someone with the same mods. A kill is a kill! Nice run.

A kill is a kill, and I said 600 HP. I never said it was to the crank. WHO cares, I still do not have any takes that will then post the results on this board. Maybe you will race my 6500 lb S600.
