New S600 out guns M6
I was traveling down I-95 south through Boca headed to North Miami this past Friday. I was in a hurry to pick up a big check so I was cruising about 90 closely watching traffic and the Beltronics. Suddenly, some guy in a new M6 pulls up next to me and gives me the nod. I looked at him as if to say "go pick on some one your own size". Next thing I know there is a black '07 S class in my rearview flashing me. The guy in the M6 didn't see the S. I nailed my S500 and ran up to about 125 with the black S on my bumper and the M6 hanging to my left. I saw a break coming up so I took it and broke right. Suddenly the black S took my place and looked at the guy in the M6 and gave him the nod!! I lifted a bit to see the S600 badge on the black S. (I wish I could have seen the look on the M6 drivers face.) He nailed it and jumped the BMW about 4 lengths...they quickly disappeared with the S600 pulling away!!! I thought...there you go you son of a biatch...go play with him for a while!!! There is a God....

BM drivers are too often like that.
Nice. So it was the new shape S? That's a heavyweight contest and made for a good read, but I would've thought it would be about even

It's all for fun bro. Even though the original ones are not fast by today's standards, they sure have one mean sound to them. The ones rebuilt and equipped with 600 hp modern performance motors must be truly something.

When you have two cars with similar power (and a rolling start at an implied 90 or 125 MPH), how does the one with 1,000 extra lbs win?
I'm sure we'll hear the usual theories of "must have missed a shift" etc, etc.

Looking for a new toy.
Here's a time slip for a bone stock 2002 SS 6-speed (car is owned by a friend of mine). His time is on the left, mine on the right. He runs very consistent low low 13's and ran a best of 13.0 later that day. As well their speed limiter doesn't cut in til 162mph, instead of 155 like ours. So be careful what you wish for...but like you said, have fun either way!

Horsepower sells cars......Torque wins impromptu street races (most of the time). That being said M6's are very very fast, especially from a roll.

The S600 is the easier car to drive (in a straight line) and if the M6 wasn't in the perfect gear at the perfect RPM then the S600 could have easily won.

When you have 2 cars that are very close performance-wise it can all come down to who gets the better jump. If the S600 dropped the hammer say 1-2 seconds quicker that could be enough to pull an M6 and vice-versa.

JLP, I totally agree since it's hard to get an even run from a roll, but keep the powerband in perspective too. My friend's P GT3 got smoked pretty bad by an SL55 on the freeway, and they both got into it at the same time. (The GT3 is a helluva driver too, so there was zero driver error).

Kleemann stage 2......
Stage 2 features the custom-made ECU programme and an electronic reprogramming of the five speed automatic transmission. Performance of the Stage II KLEEMANN kit speaks volumes with 627 Hp and 1.043 Nm (772 lb-ft) of peak torque.
Don't ya love forced induction.........so easy to get more juice!

The two other M6s listed on the site are here:
http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW--M6-Drag-Racing.html
12.599 @ 114.540
12.790 @ 113.620
Also, the Ms have to be at the proper setting to get their best performance, so the driver in question might have screwed up on that front....
